PhotoFiltre is a complete image retouching program. It allows you to do simple or advanced adjustments
to an image and apply a vast range of filters on it. It is simple and intuitive to use, and has an easy
learning curve. The toolbar, giving you access to the standard filters with just a few clicks, gives
PhotoFiltre a robust look.

Reflet makes it possible to generate simply and quickly an animation simulating waves effects and

Since there is no download today, I thought PhotoFiltre would be a good addition for those of you that like PD Particle program and it's free, so you can't lose.
I have used this program for a couple of years now. Photo Filtre is more of a professional program and they offer a pay for version with more features called PF Studio. The website has forum if you need help using the features.

They also offer it many different languages(about 20-30)on the web page.

This link is to plug in zip pack instead of having to download and install each one. There is bunch, so its worth it. To get to the page you have to go the PF Studio page for some reason to get to the zip pack. There is also bunch of add ons for diffeent brushes, patterns,etc.

Good program, and good post - very helpful! If you have the money and the need, the paid version of the program is extremely worthwhile (hmmm, candidate for future giveaways?). I purchased mine after trying out the free one. I couldn't install Photoshop Elements 6 on my machine - every time I did the program ran fine, but my DVD drive disappeared from the menu - NOT an option, LOL! I'm a 3D junkie, and really need a good image editor to do my post work with, and Photofiltre has filled that bill nicely. Photoshop its not, but it should meet the needs for the average user. The paid version can also use PShop filters - a BIG plus.

Yes, some of the plug-ins are written in French only, but most of them (notice I say most!) are easy enough to figure out, and you can always use a translator. Check out jcd_Cadres - you can get some beautifully framed pictures with this,....erm, using my two best friends, Trial, and Error, LOL! The add ons are really good as well - lots of patterns and cool masks. Their forum support was very good, last time I checked. Again, you have the language issue, but if you have a problem, you will get the help you need - often from the program's creator. And thanks for pointing out the zipfile with all the plug-ins......why they put it at the bottom of the page escapes me, LOL - I dl'd and installed the damn things one at a time and it took forever

lol, I did the same thing with those darn plug ins. I would download all of them and then put them into the file too.
I was just thinking the The smart install maker giveaway on Aug. 29 would have been ideal for this. You could put all those files into one install disc and never have to mess with it again. Its a shame I uninstalled it. I still have multiset it can do that to I think,hmmm.

Thankyou hamstergirl for the compliments, I'm glad I met someone else who uses this undiscovered gem.

Woo, Barely made it back in time for an edit. Your right the PF studio for a giveaway would be awesome. I can only hope.

At one time, a few of us had tugged on the string to have ArtRage 2 as a giveaway.....still waiting, heh, heh (I already have it, it was the 1st prog I ever purchased and well worth the $$, all $20 of it, lol) As for PFiltre....well, if Dogwaffle showed up here, anything is possible, right?

I like that paintstar. I'll have to give it a try. It's hard using other editing programs though. PF has me so spoilt. I'm probably preaching to the choir though, after reading those posts, it looks like you've been pushing people to use PF for awhile now.
I think people think it's a hard program to use, if they knew just how it easy it was.

Awhile back, I took a pic of me on motorcycle and then took a crop of my daughter's head and replaced it with mine. I then put it as a background on her computer. It looked so real it took her a few days to even notice it was her.lol

A few days later I come home and hop on my computer. After I get it booted up, there's the same pic of me, but she had taken a crop of some feet from off the internet and replaced it with my head. Funny part is, it looked even better than mine and she was only 12 at the time.

Heh,heh, that's pretty funny! Don't feel bad, if she was 12, you didn't stand a chance....any kid under the age of 16 was implanted with a computer chip at birth. I think its a law or something, LOL. Glad you liked Paintstar - and I'm impressed you got thru that thread, LOL - we all got a little crazy there for a few days (and a few threads!). At the time, I was still so new at both digital art and computers, and I was grabbing every free 2d painting prog/image editor that I could find. If you are just looking for something to play with, try some of the others like Pixia, the free version of Project Dogwaffle (don't ya just love that name!), ArtRage, or Artweaver...see, there I go again! I'm really out of practice tho - Daz and Poser take up all my time and energy, and its easy stuff to forget if you don't keep on top of it. Unfortunately, I don't think you can download Deep Paint anymore - although I could be wrong. Shame too, that was one of the best paint programs out there, free or paid. Wonder why they pulled it?....Have you tried out IrfanView? Ldahl turned me onto it (in that first thread) - its small, fast, and furious, LOL, AND it also lets you use most Photoshop filters.

Been using Gimp and IrfanView for awhile now. Will have to give PF a try now. Photoshop just doesn't like AMD machines and I don't like Intel machines...hehe.

Deep Paint is still available too.. it is a great program.

I was rereading my post, yea the awhile back is a couple years, but it seems like yesterday or few months ago. God I'm getting old. I'm still noob at real picture enhancement and modification or esp. creation. I keep meaning to get into more using those type of programs for their true purpose, but time just keeps getting away from me. To much to do and to little time.
That deep paint has nice features to. Geez, There are so many paint programs.

DeerSniper you won't regret it, I guarantee. I've got gimp on my usb drive,but haven't really gotten a chance to use it either. ditto amd vs intel.

DeerSniper - oh thank you! So that's where Deep Paint went....used to be at Download.com, but it disappeared around Christmas last year (I was having a fit - wanted to put it on my new machine and couldn't find the download - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!).

Txnnok - you know, I forgot about Gimp. Another thing I need to install....riiiight ;) It is NOT possible to have to many painting programs, LOL. You know what my favorite learning approach is? "hmmm, I wander what THIS button does", LOL! Not a good one to use on the OS in general, but fine for these kind of programs. Real life has a nasty way of demanding attention we would rather not give it, but try to set yourself a bit of playtime every day, even if its only half an hour. Try not to look at it in terms of OMG, there's soooo much to learn, aaaaahhhh! Its too easy to get discouraged that way. I know, 'cause that is exactly where I am now, LOL. Always gonna be something you don't know. Instead, just experiment a little, and familiarize yourself with the terminology - someone recently gave me that advice. and its a good point. Of course, you probably know this stuff better than I do, but its my two cents on the subject!

@AMD vs intel - hey you guys, don't you know you shouldn't post things like that in places where innocent hamsters suffering intel envy might read them....*twitch*

one i never see listed is gimpshop....basically it's gimp, but with an interface more familiar to users of photoshop

You've gotta love a program with a plugin called the "Deweirdifier".....but GimpShop is not compatible with Photoshop plugins (according to the opening paragraph) :( That's a dealbreaker for me....I know Freewarefan was a big, erm, fan?, of GimpShop.).

ditto from me HG. Oh yeah, Idahl, can you remeber the link to that gem game you posted earlier this year. I seems to have become buried amongst the hundreds of posts in this forum. It was a marvellous 3D match three game that I'd love to include in the weekday games project. I think it was called Gem Tower, but with my memory problems I couldn't be sure?

WR, Here is a GM game I think you might like to take a look at if you haven't already.
I'm liking it quite a bit. It is a shooter with a difference(to say the least).
It is freeware, a little under 10 mgb, great gray-scale graphics... and fun. Oh, and the sound is good too, appropriate for the game. Here is the link to Nanozoa:

Thanks Idhal; you've probably saved me ages sifting through all the posts. It deserves it's own post rather than being buried in obscurity, so I'll post it as the next free game. Of course I'll be giving you all the credit. :)

Nanazoa is in my freeware games folder ready for posting. It’s definitely a cool shooter. There are several that I've posted in the space shoot 'em ups thread previously that you may want to try if you like Nanazoa, especially Fraxy, which you can find in the freeware section:

Hey Guys! Thanks for the well-wishes. Yeah, its been a rough year healthwise (maybe I should say a "rocky" year, since chronic kidney stones are at the top of my problem list, LOL.) Been trying the macho approach (toughing it out) because I can't handle another surgery (6 in the last 4 years) but for some reason, that's not working.... Stephen, I don't know how you do it - when I'm hurting I can't even face my machine - and my bed is surrounded on all 3 open sides with computers, gaming consoles and two crappy televisions, LOL! It takes a lot more than just time on one's hands to accomplish all the work you do, and I admire you very much for it. BTW, another nick I've been using is hamstergirl4444 (there's quite a few other hg's out there, it seems), so if you run into it.....that's me! And your kids like the name? Ha,ha, when I read that, it made my night. I'm still amazed by the things one can do on the internet - two kids that I have never seen, and who live on the other side of the ocean, knows that there's some loony gal in California who calls herself hamstergirl.... ;)

Ldahl - hey there girlfriend! *starts mumbling...fangs here somewhere...mutter*....Ah, no tasty filters lately, heh heh! The 3D ogre bit me, and badly....although I did get my new machine (last year's "new machine" is still in the shop..sigh) to take on PShop Elements 6 without swallowing my DVD drive. So now my new problem is a baaaaad case of the wondering cursor....not sure what to do and afraid to try anything until I can get out and buy some blank DVD's and make a boot disk (brrrrrrr...never done that before......paws shaking at the thought) You can tell that I'm no longer the adventurous, Right Clicking Download Anything kind of rodent I once was, LOL....burned myself too many times. Glad you saw (and liked) the gallery - I thought you might. But for every picture thats up, there's about 20 more that won't ever see the light of day - oi, can you say "masochist"?! And thanks for not relegating me to the "rest of the frog breaths of the world"....erm, you didn't, did you?.......

WR, you are more than welcome! Somehow I thought you had already seen the other game I suggested. You probably know more about games than anyone here. I like to look at them, I really can't say why, they interest me without needing to play them all the way to the end. the ones I've finished were really special to me, because I didn't think I was good at games at all. Now I've gotten games from Big Fish and half my family does so also.

HG, frog breath? Nah! I've had such a bad year in so many ways, I understand and sympathize with all and sundry in the same boat. I'm just to the "Hoist the sails and d@mn the tide!" stage now. Yep, I'm way overtired tonight.:))) You'll never guess what I finally got up courage to try... ghosting my 20gig HD onto a 150 using a freeware prog. It worked!!! My oldest son helped with the magic. I now have the room I needed to keep on working without changing all my presets etc. One hour and I was back in business. I never would have had the courage to try(let alone know what to try) without reading and reading the comments here. I had that stupid drive since Febuary! I had to go to Oz and get some courage!*grin*. I think your 3D pics are super,you really impress me. You're right,cats always win! I just got one, he is training me nicely.

Did you get the PD Particle program offered here? I had wanted to try it at one time then forgot about it. A little confusing at first on how to get it to work instead of play(as in making it do what I wanted it to do), but I'm making progress and it sure was worth the dl.

Idahl, which program did you end up using to ghost your HD?? I've got so many programs on here I forget what does what? Also, I just got an email today from Paragon with an update to Paragon Drive Copy, V9 with registration #'s, etc. So I deleted v8.5 I had on here.

Project Dogwaffle is a raster graphics editor with simple animation capabilities.

The program, written by Dan Ritchie, runs on the Windows platform and has both freeware and commercial versions. The commercial version, PD Pro Digital Painter, is updated frequently while the most recent freeware version is Project Dogwaffle 1.2, released in 2004. The free version is fully functional, lacking only the advanced layer and scripting tools of the full version.

Project Dogwaffle features include realistic paint effects similar to Corel Painter, a frame-based animation tool, the standard paint tools common to most modern bitmap paint programs, and an alpha channel for transparency effects.

Hi Copmom! I used Easeus, found here: http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/index.htm
It was very easy to use and I was truly shocked about how fast it was.(twenty six minutes)If you are going to a larger drive you will need a partition manager. Easeus will only show your old complete disk. On mine it was 20 gigs, then my son used a partition manager that came with windows to make the rest of the HD visible. He made the partitions and when it asked if he wanted to format, he said no. (He'd formatted the total drive before he put files on it). That was it; it was done and looked and worked exactly like my old computer. It was such a relief to not have to redo all my filters and make them work with the broad range of graphic programs I use. That would have been a nightmare which would have taken me days to set up again.

Thanks Idahl! Gee, I thought I already had that one but didn't, have it now. What if I do NOT want my larger HD partitioned? I used Acronis True Image, but it made my 300 GB 2nd HD into 145 GB which the C: drive is... so I lost 55 GB doing it that way, it's invisible now. Maybe that's why I needed to partition it??

And, if we do this, why would we need todays program offering... Driver Magician? We'd have all the drivers already on the copy.

Yes, that is why you needed to partition it...the 55 Gigs are there. The partitions take a little room so you will lose a bit, but not the full 55(I think..only have tried this once for the PC)If you corrupted a driver(it happens), you might be glad to have a back-up driver to disc, yes?

I can't make anything happen. I downloaded the program, then read the readme file, made a cd of the iso file, and then that's it. No program opens up. What did I do wrong?

I think I figured out my problem. My computer boots with the A: drive first (yes, I do have a floppy drive on here), and then it goes to the CD. The iso file is too large to fit on a floppy, so that didn't work. Will mess around with it some more.

yea, u need to boot from the cd drive. You can always change it back after your done. I'm missing some gigs myself, but it was through windows partitioner. I was considering using easus's to see if it would give it back, but to do it properly the whole drive has to formatted using it and I don't have an external hard drive. Geuss, I'll have to wait.

I hate having to reinstall everything. Drive magician would definitely help shorten the process. It'll probably make a 4 hour reinstall down to an hour or two, hopefully.

copmom if you end going ahead and doing formatting and partitioning, let us know how it went and if used the driver magician to help. Don't forget to make a 30 to 50 gig partition just for complete back ups, not restores. That has saved my life many times.

I was trying to think of how to keep my programs from GOATD if I did it without a backup. I wonder if you can make a copy of those programs to cd and then reinstall them. Like a file back back up using windows tools. I've never tried made file copy using MS program much less using file back up for program backup, so I'm leary.

Hamstergirl sorry to hear of those problems you have. I haven't a kidneystone, yet(knock on wood). I have had that kidney infection everyone gets(can't think of the name). I couldn't even begin to empathize or compare it to stones,esp. when their coming out(seen on t.v.). I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
