   I wrote a comment on todays software (when it finally showed) where I criticised a spammer, commented on the software and subtype of Engrish used.

   Why is it that this comment didn't make it through moderation while the aforementioned advert for a commercial application did?

   Do you follow the lead of big companies in that any mention of moderation or critique of it must at least be erased from the face of the internet and if possible from the face of the earth?

   EDIT: Ok so you just edit the comment??? WTF???

   It's not a valid point???

   you might consider english isn't the only language gaotd is in, and maybe be a bit nicer. more intolerance got past moderation than I would have thought appropriate- but I'm not a moderator.

   I think you are seeing too much into it.
   When MisterB is not around, I don't think there is much Moderation going on on the page-du-jour ... Which he doesn't do very often anymore. But when he is present in the soft's page everybody knows it.

   I think they let comments through by batches, yours was probably waiting for someone to click the "magic" button. Of course having spam posted or publicity like yesterday, is not pleasant at all.
   I've been seeing more & more of those lately ... They must be very busy behind the curtains, as the amount of posts have gone up considerably in the past few months!!
   Must be hard to control everything, see everything, so some stupid stuff goes through and some legitimate comments are held back.
   Just be patient, happens to all of us.

   Once I had a comment in moderation for 11 hours!!!!!
   Don't even talk to me about frustration!! I was ready to bite somebody's head off :-(

   Even happens to WRabbit during weekends, on the Games page.

   Now, about this Engrish you speak of
   Where you referring to the software?
   Or a poster?
   You do know this site is neither English nor American, oui?
   Companies & posters from around the world come visit, which is great.
   If their native tongue is not English, they should be commended for making an effort.

   Just my 2cents or 2€ or 2yen or ...

   There is a lot of moderation thats around.

   I spend upto 12 hours, breezing in and out and checking emails for reported volations by users, which I appreciate; I also check pm's and read threads.

   I also have a family/job to keep and sometimes enjoy a walk outside rather than around my small back garden.

   I don't know who moderates front page, all I can do is remove things and open/close threads.

   Well, recommending that someone trying to use english to explain the features to potential customers, at least try to get it translated into english that is understandable, might be a bad idea to some people based soley on the fact that they aren't native speakers, but I really do think they would benefit from it.

   If people consider that rude, then so be it. I just hope the same people don't get a heart attack from all the <insert your pet peeve here> on the internet.

   Eh, the moderation sucks on the front page for comments. The admin's Blog too. I have no idea why some stuff is left up and other stuff gets taken off. I can only conclude there's a couple people doing it because there is no pattern to it. You're essentially seeing what the moderators want you to see which is comparable to a manipulated media.

   I posted a comment in the site administrator's blog one time in response to them being back the next day. I simply said one word "Sweetness!". It never made it up there. Perfect example of the BS moderators choosing to leave up what they understand to be appropriate. My understanding of life is the older you get the less understanding you are of the younger generation's lingo. My appologies for the word "sweetness" used so flagrantly. What was I thinking?

   That's a very valid point 2-Sheds. I must admit to becoming more and more like the old fogy’s I used to think of as being way too old and past it. I find myself thinking "what on earth do they (they referring to the young ‘un’s) think they are trying to do by twisting the glorious English language (lol). The older I get the more intolerant of youth culture I seem to be getting.

   Of course I understand why such culture is generated, but it still doesn't stop me from feeling that way -

   Yeah I know, it's really childish - it's just that I seem to remember having a lot more respect for 'my elder’s’ than the youth of today seem to have. But I suppose its all relative as we only ever really notice those that are aberrant from what we each consider ‘the normal’.

    Yep.. that's what's gone by the wayside.. "respect"! But first those yung'uns need to respect themselves as well! And, so as not to completely sound like an old fogey, we were young once too, and in our times I'm sure our behaviour was looked upon by our elders the same way we look on the younger ones now. It's an ongoing generation thing. I'm afraid that a lot of the things going on now would have our grandparents rolling over in their graves!

    Yep, you’re right Copmom. I can remember my grandfather complaining about the graveyard music I used to listen to (early Pink Floyd), and when I joined the army as an 18 year old, my favorite patched up Levi jeans were thrown out by my mother who thought tat because they had patches virtually everywhere that they had come to the end of their useful life. I remember being rather upset when I went home on my first leave to find my jeans had been dumped.

    I'd always hoped to be understanding and open, but the older I get the more intolerant I get.
