I have d/l a movie in image (iso) format and image burned it to a DVD. It plays well on my TV/DVD but am unable to "stop" "fast forward" or get it going again once I "pause". Other DVDs I use are no problem so it is not the player. Have I done something wrong? Any suggestions?

No bigharry.. that's why I don't burn them in iso.. I usually convert an avi using a dvd converter program, like "Apollo Divx to DVD Creator" which converts to VOB files which then burn and play on any DVD player.

Thanks for the response Copmom. The files that I usually d/l are image files and therefore need a burner that auto burns them as the original disc. I assume I cannot convert an image file to a VOB (I have never heard of them)or an AVI unless I burn it to a disc and get rid of the image file. God this is getting complex I hope you can still help me.

I hate iso files if they're movies! Had more trouble with them. Finally got ONE to burn properly, and for the life of me, cannot remember what program I used to convert it! The only time I will burn an iso is if it's a mfr. program so it's usable for installations on the computer!
AND there are a couple of programs that do burn the iso's..
one is called ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ I believe that's a free d/l,
and the other is Paragon ISO Burner, which I got as a GOTD awhile back.Tell you what.. go to http://www.videohelp.com/ and poke around there. Maybe you can find the answer there and they do have d/l's as well for the different programs to use.

I have no problem with ISO (1 of a few image files) and I burn them to a DVD with Nero choosing the "burn image" method that produces a DVD with all original files etc correct. I guess the problem is really that it then does not suit my player and that whoevermade the original ISO had a diffeent DVD player. hmmm I will go to that site you suggested and thanks for your help. Guymerrit.com has good info on image files

While not free - two of the best that I have in my toolbox (and swear by their quality) are
- VSO ConvertXtoDVD
- WinAVI Video ConverterBoth of these have set a very high standard, definitely worth checking out (A giveaway would be fantastic).

So now I have this ubeaut movie on a DVD and I have watched it right through but didn't dare leave the room cos I couldn't pause it. So how do I now get this disc ..load it onto my comp and convert it to a format suitable for any DVD player including mine.

and Bubby will those programs take an image file and convert it directly to the format needed to play on any Dvd player with all controls active?. Ilooked at those you listed but neither mentioned image files.

to work with image files there are several programs that let you mount the image file as a virtual drive. One such program that does this is Slysoft's Virtual CloneDrive
There are many others which perform the same task and are free - Refer to This List and This Article.
(or of course you could take the DVD you have burnt and use it with the DVD conversion/creation utilities, to insert chapter markers etc).
