I've seen this around, but not yet posted here. This is full fledged 3D program for free.

MS just bought it and is giving away the newest version.

Wow. This is the real deal here. I've been playing with this today for a while. Having tried demos of other big name payed 3D apps and Blender.....I can honestly say from what I've seen, this is a serious beefy program.
I'm running it with an Athlon 64 3000 (1800 mhz)--- 1 gig ram --- Radeon X 800XL 256
This is probably the minimum specs I would recommend...The learning curve is huge for 3D programs like this, but they do provide a detailed manual and learning videos. There also seems to be a robust forum community at the site.
I'm off to do me some learnin' from the vids :) Great find Christoria!

Bonjour Christoria :D
Thank you for bringing us this! But now I am a bit alarmed ...
What's wrong w this picture??Earlier today I *also* found this proggy *also* by MS and *also* Free!!!
===> PhotoSynth: http://photosynth.net/
Review: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10020637-2.htmlAnd they are *also* giving 20G free storage space too!
I'm a bit confused w all this generosity!
And right after giving away 10 million to Seinfeld.Call the fire department, or something ... The world is unravelling.
Be prepared people, I'll get my swords, just in case!Mangoette

Thank you Christoria, info about free programs is always welcom here.
If you don't mind giving away quite a lot of personal details such as your full name and address with post/zip code and telephone number and email; (you have to fill in all the fields to subscribe to the web site before you can download any of the files) then this program is a great giveaway.
You get three files. The actual program (127Mb), a pdf manual (50.3Mb) and a video tutorial (129Mb). For those on dial up that will take some time.
I'll be exploring this at some point. What I really want is 3DS Max, so that I can create game objects for some of my favorite games such as the Battlefield series; but there's no way that I could ever afford the price tag.

Hey LeKanaw, thanks for the link to photosynth; it’s really interesting. I'm going to create an account. You can still download the program and use it without any sort of registration. But if you don't create an account you can't upload any of your own photographs. It’s worth downloading just to see other people’s efforts, some of which are almost brilliant.
If I'd known about this program before I went to Egypt, I'd have taken a lot more photos of the same things but from different perspectives. Maybe I’ll upload images from Karnack because I took a couple of hundred photographs while visiting that temple as well as doing loads of panoramas. It seems that you can add photos from the same locality from other users because all the images you post are in the public domain, which can lead to some breathtaking results.

Whiterabbit I see that you mention your recent holiday photos would it be possible for you to post them on cybamart as they can then be seen by everyone without the need to link to your photobucket account. Just a thought if this is agreeable I look forward to seeing them there thanks in advance. MIKE

Hi Knighthawk, I've not really got around to using cybermart yet, but have created an account. When I've sorted my images out, i'll certainly consider posting them over on Merrils site.
Regards
Stephen
