Unlike previous database updates, where you click and - ZAP! - you've got a new updated database. this seems like the classic download. If you install this download, do you keep your GAOTD license for the PRO version, or does it revert to a 30 day trial?

All I know is, when I got this from GAOTD, I used my own name, entered the serial from here and it said 'License Status:' Professional Edition 'Expiration Date:' Never & furthermore, This product is licensed to Lee Smith-Goldburg, thats me.
Updated it everytime there has been a release.
If you're worried then make a backup of your system first.
Maybe the authors gave us all a lifetime licence due to it deleting a lot of peoples files (which it should not have done) when it first arrived.

Having problems, bigtime. I'm wondering if I should uninstall 2.5.3.211 first.

Mine says the same thing... Pro edition, expiration 'never', etc. Gonzo, I didn't uninstall, I just clicked check for updates when I opened the program.

Mine has the GAOTD license and it updates just fine. Still pro edition.
Just requested the update and it worked.Posted 16 years ago # -
I'm being discriminated against!!
My usual Glary Utilities PRO update experience is transparent and painless - as recently as 4 or 5 days ago. For some reason, now when I click the "Check for Updates" button on the main panel I get switched to the very page Lee has provided the link to. That's a download, folks, and my Vista Home Premium edition balks when I try to install the download, no matter what browser or downloader I use, even under "Run as Administrator" mode. And yes - to preclude interference, I killed the current copy from running while I tried the download, and closed all windows and tabs. And yeah - I've got the eternal GAOTD license, too.
Today's Aplus DVD Copy download went in painlessly, first shot.
WTF?

I too just clicked "update", downloaded the new file, installed the new file, re-booted and I was upgraded to v2.6.0.288. I do not have Vista so I am not used to all the extra security features (hoops to jump through) but it was pretty much painless for me with XP.

Does the uninstaller for Glary Utilities PRO have a "Repair" option when you run it?
Posted 16 years ago # -
gonzo: Only way to find that out is to go to control panel/add remove, click and see IF it has a repair? If not, you can cancel. But, if you do need to repair it, why don't you just try reinstalling it instead?

I just installed it on my second machine but what I got was the 30 day trial version, which is what I expected since that machine did not have Glary on it yet. I used the trail version to just clean up the machine a little.
I wouldn't 'uninstall' if I were you (or at least avoid it if you can), you will most likely lose it completely.

So are we agreed that Glary Utilities Pro can be updated?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Guess we'll find out as we go along??

Mine updated just fine and is still registered to GOATD. Previous version; 2.3.2.101, now updated to 2.6.0.228
For those still uncertain, follow Lee's advice. Also possible install Erunt on your system and configure to make auto-backups each morning. If one of the updates messes up the registration, it's a snap to go back to when you started in the morning.Pura vida

After reading the posts in this thread, I cloned my HD and tested the ability to upgrade Glary Utilities Pro. I followed copmom advise (Thanks!) and went to the "Status" tab, clicked on the "Check for Updates" button and GU did the downloading and installing all by itself.
When it was done I was asked to reboot and a few minutes later I checked the license info. What I found was that I was the proud owner of Glary Utilities Pro version 2.6.0.228 with "Never" as expiration date, and the name of the licensee was the same as it was before. Heck even the Start menu location was left untouched.
Lee and copmom, thank you for bringing this up. I really appreciate it.
Now back to the debate on what to do with Titan backup.
