To get this free PDF converter all you need to do is give an Email to Avanquest (I suggest a disposable one) then click on the link provided (the one on the left. You'll be taken to a page which when translated reads:

The download file will be done automatically, please wait ...
If the download does not start within 10 seconds, click here!
Size: 41.1 MB
Do not forget to note your serial number. It will be necessary to install your software.
Serial Number: I've removed this because we are not supposed to post serial numbers here
Download free "ABBYY PDF Transformer 1.0"

It's quite easy to see serial number (when you click the appropriate links) and where the download link is. I got one of those active X message bars popping up, so to download the file you will have to click on the yellow bar and select download file, which is 41Mb in size.
Thank you very much ender. I will compare this with the one I bought. I hope it's better :)
Avantquest have been giving a lot of software away recently. Until I signed up for a news letter from their French site a couple of weeks ago (following another offer, I received very few emails from them, but since signing up to the French site last week I've been getting a special offer Email every day. Don't let this put you off though because Emails are easily deleted. And as I suggested just use a disposable one. You don't need anything from an Email to get the program up and running.
Once the program has been installed you will be asked to register the program, which means giving your Email out again, plus a few other details.
The main difference between this program and the one I bought recently is that this one only converts PDF documents to word, text, html or excel documents, but not the other way around like the program I recently bought (Expert PDF v5).
I've tested it and unless the PDF document has been password protected (quite a lot are) it's really easy with the wizard provided to convert the PDF documents. You may ask why you would want to convert a PDF doc to word or one of the other formats. Well the main reason I see is that unless you have a very expensive PDF editor, you cannot edit PDF documents. At least this program allows you to do this, but unfortunately you can't convert the edited PDF document back into PDF. Still for free who's complaining.
