Hi everyone. I've been enjoying this site for some time now but have never posted on the forum or any comments. Lately, however, I have not been able to get any GOTD offers because they have not been available to me. Today, June 7, for example, there is no offer and the email I received today was for the offer of June 6th - which has expired. Is there something I am doing wrong? I'm missing out on some good stuff! Thanks.

MemberYou need to give a great deal more information to receive an answer on "what is wrong".
To start please list your hardware, operating system, browser, type of connection to the World Wide Web (WWW) = entrance to the Internet, Internet Service Provider name and reputation for service, and geographical location is the basic information needed. A honest estimation of your computer skills helps. Otherwise no one will know how much detail to give you.
Is your only problem downloading? Can you easily connect to the GOTD website? Is the trouble you are having related to the activation of the product?
Start by describing the big picture with details of what you are doing and give the problem points.

I think what Braverlady is refering to is the same thing I'm experiencing today. When I go to http://www.giveawayoftheday.com , all I see is a list of the past giveaways from 6-6-08 and earlier. There is no software giveaway for today (6-7-08) that I can see, only the game giveaway. Maybe they're taking a little break because of all the moaning & crying over what's been given away lately.

I stopped my email subscription a long time ago because they were ALWAYS a day behind. It's easier to just visit the site every day, rather than check my email & then visit the site.

I wouldn’t rely on GAOTD’s email to inform you on what download is available for the day. I have their blog feed setup on my yahoo home page and it’s a month behind on what’s posted on the blog page on this site here. From what I’m reading on you post I take it you’re email from here is a day late or you’re checking it too late.
If you’re late on the mail and use the download link that comes with it then you won’t be able to get the download available to you. A newer link is then set up for the next day giveaway.
You only have within a period of 24 hours in order to download the available product.
I’m on the east coast so I have between 3 am till 3 am the next day. I see you’re on the
West coast being a 3 hour difference, the download for you should be midnight to the following midnight. After the 24 hour period the product is no longer available then gets listed in the GAOTD archives.Instead of relying on the email it might be better to just bookmark this page into your favorites like I do and just make a habit to check it everyday.

The link above will bring you to the available product page. Then another link on that page will bring you to the comment page with more description of the product, a link there will then take you to a 3rd page on wiki.com where GAOTD stores the file.
Unfortunately there is no giveaway for today June 7th due to the owner having to be away on a business trip. This happens once in a blue moon between maintenance and all, but very rarely. There should be a giveaway tomorrow Sunday unless the owner is on a longer trip.

MemberOkay. First I learned not to rely on the GOTD email. Fair enough. They have been a little quirky, I agree. What has been confusing me is that more than once this past week there has been no new GOTD available when the clock is supposed to start. I know there was a maintenance day and no giveaway on that day. Another day the giveaway showed up a few hours late. But yesterday's giveaway for June 6 did not show up until today and today is too late. Yet there were comments which tells me that somebody got that giveaway. That's what confuses me most. If some are getting the daily giveaway, how come I don't see it (like June 6)? At any rate, it looks like I am not alone, so I'll be patient. It's just that I look forward to these giveaways and it's a huge disappointment when the new one doesn't appear.

I think what is happening to you is that you are checking right after the time that the giveaway SHOULD be up. Quite often there is some type of problem that it will not post right on time. It is not only GOTD that has these types of problems. Wait for a couple of hours and then check it. I am on Pacific time also so I always check it around 6am when I get up, which still gives plenty of time to download. Besides, the reviews are a lot more accurate and informative after people have actually checked out the software.

MemberThat happened a couple of times this week were GAOTD came on late with the giveaway for the day. Friday's morning it was 2 hours late. Just go to the comments page for that day and you could see when the posting started. There are even some moments during the day when I'm in the forums or in the comments section I'll go to refresh the page and the site times out.

I hope you didn't think what I commented to DaletonaDave had anything to do about your post here. You had a legit question concerning a problem. If you read through yesterday's comment page it was filled with people that think GAOTD owned them something more then what was offered. It's a whole different crowd then in the forum.There's a great group of people that hang here or pop in and out at times in the forum to have fun with and help each other out when we could. Browse around in some of the other post and join in and get to know them.

MemberThanks, Messenger. I have been made to feel quite comfortable here on this forum. I love GOTD. I know it's not always software that I have use for, but when something comes up that interests me, it just makes my day. I look forward to each new giveaway. Yes, I was fearful of posting because I have noticed how demanding and negative so many have been on the comments page. I am glad there are so many people here who appreciate this site and welcome new members.

MemberIts 8th of June and there are still no new giveaways. Perhaps our web browsers have a problem viewing the page? I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox 2. Anyway, if you want free software you can always view "Software Talks" in the forums. For me, I'm trying not to download anymore software into my com as I want to save space.
