Hi Suki,
I finally got around to sending off my test report to Oleg for Unicorne Castle. In it I mentioned how a one hour demo is not enought time to check out all the dialogue boxes, let alonr check for bugs etc. anyway, within several minutes of sending Oleg my report I received an Email saying:
"Sure, here is the key .........."

So if you're in the same situation, having only an hours demo, you could write and metion that you're unable to finish due to the limitations of the demo. :)

Are you testing for Alawar or just Big fish games? They finally moved me from the beta testers to the testers list, so I now get full versions instead of the demos.
When testing for BigFish do you fget full versions for testing for them?

Perhaps what WR means is that there are no sounds, smells, tastes or touchy feely bits associated with his posting, ruling out ears, nose, tongue and fingers (etc)?

stephen and suki- i'm also beta testing unicorn castle. i wrote a brief review on what i was able to play in that 'short' hour. oleg sent me the key the next day.

he is a great guy and very reasonable and understanding. i think that, as long as he knows you are making an effort, he'll help out.

I didn't know if anyone else was testing Oleg's games. This thread would be for anyone that is. So far I'm quite impressed with the game, thoug personally I get bored with most hidden objects (I have the usual ones Hidden Expedition Titanic and Everest, The Scruffs, Forgotten Riddles, Hiden Relics, and The Little Shop of Trasures 1 & 2 - all bought for my daughter). It's got some features that other hidden objects games don't have which i'll leave for you to discover when the demo is released. Though I'd better not say anything else as I don't know whether we are supposed to say anything publicly.

As for the title of this thread, I realize it would be too much for anyone not to read, lol.

I agree about Oleg, I've nothing but admiration for the guy. He's taken note of everyones comments from his last game Magic Farm. I was amazed at how he gave us all those updates. Comparing the original giveaway with the last update is like having a different game (I've kept both versions)

I have just started testing for Alawar, boy the downloads are slow!

If you haven't found out already, no Big Fish does not give you the game and you only get an hour to do it, or it has a cut-off point!

Suki, that is why I've never bothered to do any of their beta testing. You don't get any compensation for your time, and you only get the usual hour to try it out.

I hear you! That's why I like working with Oleg, but only on some games! I will check what he has in the works and if I like it, I just ask for the key!
I am going thru Magic Farm again to try and help this chick from Syria out, but when I showed her a shot of the front screen of my copy so she could tell me what version she had, she said it was 1.002! She said she had bought it on CD in Syria!
I was looking for the MF forum on here when I stumbled upon Whabbits post, must have been in the woods, lol
I had talked to Oleg and this is what he said about it:

1.002 it's not possible. At least 1.014 or 1.016

If she is indeed right about the version, I am thinking that she might have a boot-legged copy of the game! I found the old link to that version on the thread here! The oldest version we have at the Farm is V1.09
My Version is "1.026"

Hi Suki, No I never bothered with big fish. I even scrapped my subscription after I started accumulating credits that I couldn't spend. I've not been able to access my beta testers account over at Alawar for a bit, so haven't done any Beta testing for them in ages. in fact I've been keeping clear of most Beta testing recently. Wanted to concentrate instead on playing my bigger games. I've volunteered to test some Indie games over the last few months as I find they are much better than the stock hidden object/time management games that such developers as alawar are now churning out.

I loved the first few of their Farm Frenzy games, but it's getting like they are releasing a new version of the same game every few months. I think the latest one is Ice age. I stopped with Pizza Party, lol. They are doing what they did with the original Hyperballoid, releasing umpteen expansions to what was a brilliant game, thus filuting the original, till it is no longer a good game (just my opinion)

I have only done 2 so far, their system is weird! You login to the beta area, then click on the game, then they send you an email with the link, which downloads so slow!
I can download faster from their site!

Have you been to the Farm lately? They have MF2 on development and Oleg posted some concept shots, looks real good to me!

I visitd the site a few months ago after getting a link to test a new game; but never got beyond that. Have been too tired to do any beta testing lately.
