I have a sony handycam that records on dvds...i need to convert it avi or mpeg to put it on windows movie maker...I need a good converter for free...That will work without putting watermarks or make the video look like crap...Please help...ive tried so many converters and none of them work...and i have a video project do in 3 days

I've learn over the years that to the person, there problem is the most important in the world so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, instead of doing a search they just create a thread and post there question. Good answer graylox because next time he/she will do a search.
Sorry but no answer here on the converter because the one I use is not a free one.

usually, i recommend this one, its been working for me fine, and without watermarks.

is that a widescreen handycam? if so it puts out anamorphic 16:9 in a 4:3 frame. I have a friend that I helped out with that (a pita, too) and you have to change aspect ratios as well as video/audio compression. and the audio is 4 or 5 channel, aargh.
and those handycam-recorded minidvd's aren't exactly the usual dvd-video format, either.
