For heavens sake, stop whining when there is no game. If they have started up again with everyday games then be happy & if a day goes by withut a game then look for one the next day. GGOTD did not take us to raise!!! They will provide FREE games when they can.

Welcome back to the forum Katiemax.
I hope we'll see you more often !Posted 16 years ago # -
KT . . . Do you really think the GAOTD crew cares about the whining?
I can see 'em now, knowing there'll be no game on ? day, making no effort to let their faithful visitors know, and then, laughing about all the resulting whines.
It's the only way to ensure a good days hit ratio for the site, which helps generate interest from developers, and thus, $$.Posted 16 years ago # -
I;m sure they don't have the time to worry about the whining. I just got tired of people complaining about something they get for free. As a senior citizen--blah blah- & an avid pc game player I am greatful for anything I can get for free.

What did you say Katiemax you are backing our senior-gang ?

I don't know why so many people seem to think that they have started up games every day again. It is CLEARLY posted in the site blog that they are have moved the WEEKEND games back to the game portion of the web site.
Having said that, it would be nice if they either actually provided two games on the weekend or told us there would only be one. If GOTD acts as if there will be two games as usual on the weekend, then a person spends time visiting and re-visiting and re-visiting the site only to find no game, I don't consider it wrong for someone to complain about that. Even if they can't tell us ahead of time that there will be no game on Sunday, how much effort would it take to post a notice at some point during the day? After all, they have moderators and administrators posting things all the time. And if you think they ALL take Sunday off, try posting something unwanted in the comments section, and you will discover quickly that they DO have someone out there today.
I appreciate the free games I have downloaded thus far. I would also appreciate a little consideration for those who visit this site, by telling them whenever a normal game day will not have a game. -Dan

Creamy.....I think what threw some people off was the title/heading that said, "Game giveaways going back to game.giveawayoftheday.com". If you read it quick and don't read the "dot com" at the end it does sound like they're saying it's returning to a daily giveaway. That's how I took it at first, till I read the details.
As for the rest of you.......would you like some cheese and crackers to go with your whine? :)

An open letter to the disappointed gamers:
Instead of complaining, why not write a short letter to the gaming sites in your bookmarks or to gaming sites that feature games you would love to play?
The letter doesn't have to be fancy but correct spelling will go a long way .. remember the developers are business men and women. Try something like this (alter to suit your needs, and remember, this is just a quick 'n dirty version offered as a suggestion):
***
Good Morning,I have been interested in your game for some time and really enjoyed playing the demo version. Your game could be a world-wide hit with a little exposure, so why not submit it to the hugely popular Giveaway of the Day site?
The Giveaway team purchases your game and offers it for 24 hours, with no free technical support, no free upgrades and no free replacement if lost. During that 24-hour period, you will receive creative, constructive feedback from many of the tens of thousands of daily visitors to the site. A significant number of independent developers have enjoyed a marked increase in sales after showcasing their games at Giveaway of the Day.
Just visit Giveaway of the day dot com and choose the 'For Developers' link. You can also call, toll free, 1.888.441.0638. I hope to see your very enjoyable game featured there very soon.
Sincerely,

Bobby, that does SOUND like a good idea, but when you think about it, isn't that the job of the people who run this web site? They not only won't be consistant with the way they supply games on here, but now we have to go ask the game creators to use this site?
Don't get me wrong. It wouldn't bother me if they only wanted to put ONE game on here every MONTH. But whatever they say they are going to do is what they should do, and vice versa. And when people question what is going on when games don't show up, GOTD should have the courtesy to post something.....and not just days after the fact.
Now that I've given my two cents (which leaves me with no cents), I am going back to finding interesting games for free that I can tell everyone about in these forums. -Dan

Hi Dan,
Seems to me, the more developers I can bring to the Giveaway site, the more goodies I will have to sample :) This has become such a delightful community, with so many friendships forged, that it only seems natural to want to support the site in any way that I can.
There are other ways, of course, like clicking on the ads Slava and the team have posted or putting the Giveaway ticker on my web pages, but this seemed like a more personal approach.
I do agree that it would be nice to have explanations for missing game giveaways. Perhaps there are circumstances that we are not aware of that prevented such notice?
Maybe my age is showing (eeek!), but it seems petulant ...for me, at least ... to fuss about a missing game after all the games I've been able to enjoy, free of charge, thanks to the Giveaway team.
