i'm here, but i have to go to bed and try to get some sleep. my daughter wakes up pretty early and even though she knows that "mommy wakes up very slow" she doesn't really know how to be quiet........ever. even though we are related, for some reason(maybe that she's 3) she wakes up really happy and chatty, and she just talks and talks all day long.
i know it's getting late for you too, even without the daylight savings. :D

I've tried b4, but still can't master the link trick. As soon as I had the time, I was going to ask MrB where was he hiding the practise thread.
So, thank you PauloParra, excellent idea to start one - obviously, we need it! ;*)Now SC, really u call that a fountain?? Pitiful!! And ugly!!! Ark Ark Ark
I'm watching u, u'll NOT escape. Since TPTB at GOTD have installed the Log-On/Lof-Off signboard I always know where u are. To facilitate matters, I'm going to find a way to put a tag on ur signal!!
Butter knives at 20 paces - 22hr - Bring a witness. I want someone around to see me gloat!!Posted 16 years ago # -
Ok!! Mango Lady, now you've done it ,how dare you insult my fountain!! (thinking... Huh!! She probably thinks a fountain is what you drink from at a park??) Well your just going to have to wait, since I hurt my knee we will have to postpone the dual,(again thinking...Maybe she'll take pity on me...Ohhh!! I hope so.)See explanation here...
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2776/page/31?replies=922#post-21427Now I know you would want it to be a fair dual, and if my knee hurt's (hoping for even more pity)and in case you start to win how do you expect me to run away.
I'm puzzled by your last remark, why would you want a witness to see a Goat, Ohhhhh!!! Excuuuusssse!!!!ME!!! you said gloat.Sorry must be the meds.(again thinking...If she believes that one,Have I got bridge to sell to her!!!)

This is for anyone who is having trouble posting links showing only the link text, that when clicked will take you to another page. Keep in mind, that all of this is very new to me. I'm just learning too!

.Felix says:
<em>"While exploring the Flickr API, I got the idea to animate a song using the lyrics as keywords. At the time, I was listening obsessively to a song by <a href="http://www.danfrickmusic.com/">my friend Dan Frick</a>, entitled Astronaut.</em>
<em>Featuring the full song and 50+ images pulled from Flickr, this project is a sort of online music video (that changes with each viewing). To date, this project has gotten a fair amount of press, and is arguably one of the more successful things I've made."</em>

Maizey, Astronaut certainly is a novel and entertaining, albeit somewhat questionable exploitation of Flickr. The randomness coordinated to rhythmic timing is intriguing. I think the creator is onto something if he can work out satisfactory arrangements with musicians and royalty-free photo archives. I say questionable because it seems that some of the pictures the software grabs from Flickr are private photos. Either there's a leak or I don't understand Flickr's sharing policies. I envision Jung packaging this as a proprietary web-based service to musicians (or whomever) who could choose stock photos linked to their own songs.
From the avoison link, I stumbled upon this unusual interactive gizmo. Clearly, I don't understand women... it took me 5 tries to get the girl, not to mention gaining 12 pounds eating all those chips. First, I was arrested for harassment, then slapped, then maced, then soundly thrashed by her ex-Marine boyfriend before finally finessing my way into her heart. Tough game!
Posted 16 years ago # -
I don't believe Astronaut is infringing on anything. The song is by his friend and the project has been widely publicized. If there were a problem with it I'm sure someone at flicker would have approached Felix by now. This project has been online since last July.
I played around that interactive chip eater earlier today but gave up after a few tries. I'm going to have to go back in for the action! :)

i usually suck at those games, but i got it right away..:D

No need to get defensive, there, Maizey. I didn't say anything to imply the music was in question, only that when I tried to enlarge some of the photos (from the first play... can't repeat that one now and haven't checked all the photos in the 2nd batch) Flickr rejected me saying I didn't have permission. Since I was logged in to my account, but don't know from whence the photos were pulled, I wondered why I couldn't access them and even ventured a guess that I just don't understand Flickr's sharing policies. Can't get more objective than that. FWIW, before writing my post to you, I had already done some backgrounding and knew of the publicity, critical acclaim and that others had also raised points pro and con. Personally, I like the idea (thought I already gave that impression) and wish him much success.

I thought I had something wrong w my code, that's why it didn't work - NOPE, I have it right.
Ok, trying again...As usual, I must be daft!!
I can't make heads or tails on that Gizmo Game
What am I suppose to do? The mouse controls his arm, that's it - Either I eat chips or give them to her and she gets mad. Whaaaa???On the other hand did rather well w both of BuBBy's games
UpDate:
Yeahhhh!!! I did it!! N*I*C*E*Now, can anybody tell me why my underlying code doesn't work?
This is what I have: <U>underline</U>Posted 16 years ago # -
Hi there, Lekanaw. First, ignore all my spoofing about marines and cops. Second, forget everything women say about wanting a guy who is generous, cause that's just going to tick the bench lady off. Act like a pig and see what happens. Apparently, she only warms up when she can't have it.
I haven't tried BubbyCo's games, yet. Dare I??
Posted 16 years ago # -
RM - No offense taken. :) Looking at Flickrs policy it's hard to tell what rights the owners of the photos have. I tried clicking on the pictures too but nothing happened.
LeKanaw - I don't think that the
<U>
markup is allowed on this forum.
Allowed markup: a blockquote br code em strong ul ol li.

Maizey, I've always been very leery of these photo archive sites. Some seem to have indecipherable Terms & Policies written by bored IRS agents, that suggest you're giving up all rights to anything you upload. I've seen some pluck photos randomly from member folders as a form of advertising, but they won't respond to queries about whether the photos come from public folders or partially restricted folders or any danged folder.
Rights issues are complicated even when all parties play fair. When they don't, watch out. The latest writer's strike reminded me of the stunt two publishers tried to pull on me a few years back. It was if they were both advised by the same attorney. (not implausible) I recv'd almost identical letters asking me if I'd be kind enough to give up any claim to Internet use of my work product. (i.e., no compensation)
My response - The h*ll you say!
Their response - Gee, you're not being a "team player." (read "SAP")Posted 16 years ago # -
As far as clicking on the photos, look for a tiny little grey arrow in one corner of the photo. When double clicked, it opens in blank. You can also push the photos around or completely sweep them off the floor to winnow the collection down to photos you want to keep. Very nifty... nice wallpaper source. (hint hint)
UPDATE Just came across another restricted photo. Verbiage reads:
This page is private.
!Oops! You don't have permission to view this page. Now I don't know if the owner of the photo realizes a fairly large unthumbnail is currently being viewed by me or not. Granted, it's not a size you'd want to hang on your wall; but depending on the photo, some might consider any details revealed to be incriminating. Funny thing is, the browswer window header reports it as a private page, but the URL points to a member's account. Go to that account and it gets more complicated... some photos are his, some are apparently just ones he likes and found in other collections. arrrggghhh

Hi urself ;-)
Was waiting for the marines/cops... Du'h...
May I say idiot without the forum ladies throwing fruit at my head?
So, that's it? She gets closer to him on the bench and then what? Hummm...Yeah, Mr.B's games are interesting. Hard but good.
Been hard to play/write anything w my arm out of commission.
Hey, got the Mangoette message on the games comments. It always surprises me when I see myself mentioned somewhere in a post:-)
I called them Friendship Pebbles.Posted 16 years ago # -
Oh, yeah, I likey the term Friendship Pebbles
A lot better than being known as "old rabbit pellets." :-)I could write a mini-romance novel about what happens after she slides over to him, but it could get GAOTD banned in 13 countries.
PS - I'm still working on an ADMIRAL SEEDS packet for you. I have no excuse since my arm is functioning fine... so long as I don't pat myself on the back too often.
Posted 16 years ago # -
RM - I can move the photos around but double clicking on the tiny arrow does nothing on my machine. I'm also logged into Flickr. Creating a wallpaper with those photos might cause a stir in the Flickr community. LOL

Huhhh?? What is Admiral Seeds??
Sorry, I've been out of commission for a few days, can't understand half of what's going on around here... Or possibly that's my natural state and only have brief moments of clarity... Who knows!!Aren't Pellets a type of bullets?
So, the idiot slides over, that's it, game over? I thought I needed to do something else?
Do u know what's wrong w my code? Is Maizey right then?? :-(Posted 16 years ago # -
Lekanaw, shssssh... admiral seeds is an anagram for a verboten phrase... *mail address.
Rabbit Pellets are all that's left after Bugs Bunny eats a salad.
Maizey's correct. GAOTD/WordPress doesn't recognize the U/underline tag. Doesn't allow for colors, won't permit animated smiley icons or dancing frogs, forbids certain words and embedded musical scores, censors off-color and rude comments, generally frowns on wise ass runes, etc. etc.
MAIZEY, that's too bad. You're missing a major plus to Jung's project. I have no idea why that feature's not working, but I'll hazard a guess that you've got one of your scripting functions disabled, or perhaps you aren't using the most recent Flash. Ever tried fiddling with Adobe's moronic, non-intuitive, on-line only Flash Settings Manager?
Posted 16 years ago # -
You are Looney RM!!! Really!
And this is known to everybody or only on the parallel world u live in?So... the Dancing Frogs only show up on "MY" screen? How odd!!
I was enjoying them! So they only exist in my head!?!?
Need more meds... Froggy pretty - nice Bunny - Youppiii
=ô.ô=Posted 16 years ago # -
I live inbetween, Mangoette, out of sync in a multidimensional space where things aren't always as they seem. For instance, you may have been speaking metaphorically about frogs & meds; but, if you have the nerve, just lick this special hallucinogenic MAGIC TOAD link and see what happens! (better hold hubby's hand while trying this)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Wow Prrretty ;-)
But... No Magic :-(
Still have Bunny hopping around. Why, OOOHHH Why?!?!?!
Now, where's the whiskey?Well, gonna go try to get a bit of a rest now. Head going fuzzier.
Thank u for keeping me company and making me laugh :-)Posted 16 years ago # -
I've got a text file I use to collect url's and snippets in, I've added

Sorry grasshopper, UL doesn't mean Underline, it means Unordered List. It's used along with LI for numbering bullets.

BubbyCo, I swear your post was NOT there when I saw goodgotd's, and it didn't take me long to type my reply. What's going on with them servers?
