Downloading to C: or external harddrive authentication

A couple of questions concerning downloads from GAOTD.

1. Do the downloads have to be placed on the same harddrive that the operating system is placed on? ie. C:?

2. Can I transfer any of the downloads that I currently have on the C: drive to an external harddrive without losing the activation for the downloads from GAOTD?
