   and actually it's an interesting diversion, one I'm not gonna let get away, to see what caused it and I can lock a machine down that way on purpose. as a toggleable state.

   no, one solid billet. no moving parts. roughly a foot long.

   and if I need the horsepower, I can use terri's 2200 or dual-boot 98se. works fine as an nas.

    not even close, either one.

    industrial-class store sorta thing but even a real small shop could need one. hand tool, often seeing a lot of use per-each, not this 'un.

    And it's use is usually (seasonal, complicated) on targets cooler or at the same temperature as the tool.

    if you two keep that up, I'll have to smack you with a suggestive picture.

    no, not heavily used in most circumstances, they last long enough that a use every 2 weeks to 6 months adds up over a long useful lifespan so many have seen a lot of use- not much at a time. this one's only been used a couple dozen times.

    I wouldn't be adverse to knowing the answer to that last....

    I will add just to give you all rope to yank my chain, in normal use you will find 2 classes of these:

    one- in the majority- dirty, grimed up, and treated indifferently...

    the other so clean you could eat off it, and obsessively recleansed to make sure. literally.

    as to the other matter, here's a full view of one end of it.

    well, these are often found around oil, chem and soap storage,
    or food service [bulk] and bottling plants.

    either they're dirty == not fit or safe to lick...

    or clean enough licking it would reduce the cleanliness.

    and would violate FDA rules.

    Your 'whole thing' seems to have a couple of cobwebs, or dust, so you need to clean it so you can eat off of it! LOL
    Hello all!!
    Been out of commission the past couple days.. computer decided to have a hissy fit and kept doing strange things. Last thing I recall is there was a Quick Time update, and somehow it installed itunes and ipod. I didn't need them so deleted, and things went downhill from there. Long story short, I finally totally removed Quick Time, and AVG by Grisoft, (which I think conflicted with McAfee and a couple other programs). So basically spent a lot of time getting rid of junk! There were too many (background) programs that basically did the same things! Then ran registry editor, CCleaner, and several others to clean up my mess. So far, so good. (Knock on wood)!

    Bung or dung. I'd never seen one before, but I knew they existed, as I have seen the notches in those drums.

    take cheap (dollar/free to 3 bucks, more if you want range) White LED flashlight, 3 layers of double-sided tape, stick to camera (or the reverse plus extras, if you went for option B, 'range' above) somewhere or another where off hand can fire it. set camera to macro, flash on.

    paint target, focus and fire- strobe stops action- caught bee midair in the latter pic.

    tripod got here- so far short (52") but lightweight and sturdy, nice solid no-coin quick-release. I'd call it well worth the money for stills.

    err. I'm 6' and wish even the old tripod could reach much higher.

    it's light enough to be a bit whippy at full extension, especially in the wind [a suspended weight is easy to add], the end segments are little over a 1/4" across= but I want another one already.

    to mount the head (smooth pan, the other two... not smooth) on the other end of the Quick-Set's column, and possibly mount it as a macro boom- and the legs to go on the good minipod head the leg's broke on.

    the 99 cent table pod is small but nice and includes a cleaning kit and 3 lcd protectors

    I shall ponder MD-What Is It? #52 farther, but first reaction is a flange or washer, possibly tacked to the end of a pipe as like a foot on a leg.
