Graylox.....Not sure where you are, but in the US we always called them "Foosball" (pronounced: FOOZ-ball) tables. I was never any good at it, but I had a friend who could beat anyone I ever saw him play. Those tables were good money makers.

About 35 years ago, our next door neighbor had a garage and storage sheds full of pinball machines and jukeboxes. He repaired and sold them. Of course at that time, with 4 little kids, we never even thought of buying one, who had the money? So, I guess what I'm trying to say, is there still must be others that have things like that stored away that they might want to get rid of.

Oooh now you giys are really brining back the memories. In my early twentys I got into pinball machines and discovered, much to my surprise, that not only did I love it, but I wasn't half bad at it. I was staying with a family who had a 15 year old son and we became close friends. He and his buddies would go to a little pizza place nearby and play pinball and 1 day I went along, that did it. I was hooked.

Like graylox, I played for drinks, too. But my specialty was shuffle bowling machines. I got to the point that I could make strikes behind my back. My favorite game selection was called "flash". My brother has one of these games but it needs some repair. I miss playing these old games. There aren't too many left in service around here.

that's the problem with old pins- parts and repair, and worst is what is really, really hard to repair- worn-through playfields. lots of time and labor, and it takes stripping the board bare. tough.

The pinball companies used to sell replacement boards, and you can still occasionally find them. I replaced a board in a "Frontier" machine back in 1984. The old board was so worn down it was almost impossible to see the paint. I had the idea to put a thick, clear sheet of mylar on the new board before I installed it. I figured that it would keep the new board from losing all it's paint, as long as it was kept waxed. And let me tell you, the ball really flies when traveling over mylar!
Parts for old machines are still available. I order from a company that specializes in them. And as far as repair, I just do it myself. The hardest thing is finding the machines in decent shape, but there are plenty of them out there.

We used to go to an arcade place in Oceanside, CA (when it was still there), that had a mini golf course outside and the machines inside. For ten cents (or was it a quarter?), I could spend hours because I kept winning free games.. it was great!
