the man has a sharp eye. i wonder if it has anything to do with his poker skills?
now he's made my day, i love to make people happy! (plus, i'm really glad that someone was able to identify my picture)Posted 16 years ago # -
now I'm the one that missed out. D'oh!

Gee, when you look at the whole fan picture, it makes sense! Maizey.. you have a sharp eyed hubby!
As for the 4 in 1 printers, etc., my older one has never let me down, but then again I do mostly use that one for faxes, and as I said I now am mostly interested in the negative feature.. heck, some of our negatives go back to 40+ years ago! Bet most of them are the stupid pictures the kids took when they were little, like a bird sitting on a wire of a telephone pole! Can't even see the bird!
Just got back with some Chinese food for supper.. crammed enough in those take out trays that we'll have 2nds. Sunday night as well! Yummmmm!

oh copmom- i think we will have to hit the chinese buffet today or tomorrow!
yummmmmmmmmm!Posted 16 years ago # -
My hubby has two good eyes. While driving he's seen deer bedded down on the next hillside from the road; hundreds of yards away. He's had to pull over and hand me binoculars so I can see it too. He doesn't wear glasses either. I told him, he doesn't know haw fortunate he is. I've had to wear glasses since I was 6 years old.
copmom - I know what you mean about pictures of an invisible bird on a wire. I've taken a few myself. I'd get pictures back from the developer and wonder why I had a particular shot of the sky. Duh!

Since no one else has done it, I'm giving you MD-15 to guess. Hubby say that you may or may not get it right away. He figured it out pretty fast. :)Posted 16 years ago # -
sure looks like the swivel vents they put in most cars on the dash.

goodgotd - That didn't take long. You got it!

Guess I oughta toss one out- This is gonna be tough as it's a disposable craft item used to make a popular 1970's decoration for end tables and walls.
have fun, it's clear.

Did I scare y'all off?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Is it some kind of a needle like for macrame? Except I never used needles when I used to do macrame! Hummmmmmmmm Or a needle used to make doilies? What goes on both end tables AND/OR walls?
Posted 16 years ago # -
i really have no idea. it looks like glass to me, maybe plastic.
Posted 16 years ago # -
I made lots of crafts in the 70's but that doesn't look familiar. When goodgotd said that it was disposable, before looking at the pic, I though it would be popsicle sticks. I made a lot of lovely things with those. Just ask my mother.
Is it a Mason jar? I've never seen them on walls though.
How about a plastic bead?
pony beadsIs it a straw?
Posted 16 years ago # -
maizey that's what I was thinking.. a mason jar but that didn't decorate anything! Could it be a candle holder? But who puts candles on the walls? Geesh!
Hey.. a plant holder? That looks like a base under it! But, those aren't disposable and weren't a craft item.Posted 16 years ago # -
no, it's not a mason jar, but it is glass. nor a candle holder. not beads, though it is hollow.
it looks similar to a plant holder, but as you can see from the rough, unfinished edge, it's cheap.
When used it had to be broken afterward. And the items made were assembled in clusters for decoration.
I couldn't reach the site early this morning so I gave up and went to bed.

Totally stumped! Can't think of any 70's craft that used broken "clear" glass. I mean there were disco balls, but they used mirrored glass. Then there's mosaics with a variety of broken glass and/or ceramics.
I did have a bottle cutter though. I never did figure out how to make anything useful. All I ever ended up with was a bunch of glasses that looked like half a bottle. Had to polish the heck out of them so as not to cut your lip.
Posted 16 years ago # -
No, this was used to make something, *then* broken. to get what was made out. Clue- the groups were called 'bunches'.
I gotta go do some shopping, when I get back I'll post a clue image from a different angle.
(imageshack login- and the images- are on the laptop which is going along and already packed. gary sent me a 75w inverter so I could run it off the car. smoke test time!)
I had a bottle cutter too, and found it just about that useful. Sad.
BTW, for the 'need a camera' folks, take a look at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2826?replies=18#post-21001 as I found a couple of not-too-bad cams.

When you say 'bunches', makes me think of grapes! OHHHHHH is it a mold? after you make whatever it is in the mold, you had to break that to get to the innards you made!
Posted 16 years ago # -
copmom - I was thinking a mold...but what comes out of a mold in bunches?

I started searching for retro/vintage crafts and found these funny craft sites:http://craftgossip.com/
Make sure to look at the #1 Most Popular All Time craft in the menus on the left.http://www.tackyliving.com/index.php This one has some odd crafts too.

That's funny. The #1 Most popular.. I'd seen the slippers many times before in emails. What's that saying, "waste not, want not"!
Posted 16 years ago # -
Oh, on that page with #1Most popular, if you click the link for the lights it will take you to a page with things like a toupee and a pan flute. Too funny! :D
Posted 16 years ago # -
maizey- that is hilarious!
who thinks of these things?
did you see the name of the site with the toupee?Posted 16 years ago # -
funky - yup! :DD
Posted 16 years ago # -
too funny.
Posted 16 years ago # -
me and my big keyboard- I give you 2 views of a resin grape mold!
they make the grapes one at a time, then bunch them.
come to think of it, I haven't seen any for a long time, these molds (I have a couple dozen or so) must be 40 years old. pretty soon they''ll be antiques, huh?http://img512.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rim00003ud9.jpg
http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=chf09ix5.jpgmore wallpapers up.
as for what comes out of molds in bunches, or gaggles, or just pairs- most injection molded items smaller than wastebaskets.
