graylox, finally got this where I could post it- it's a blue-violet variety lupin I found in a bed beside the 'old stuff' store I found the seed cleaner at.
here's a wider view. The wild ones seem to all be the first sort.
your pic looks rather like an old bottle opener.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks for the flowers, but I don't take any bribes.
It is not a bottle opener, not even a new one.The yellow flowers (Erysimum cheiri),are a very good food plant for bees and bumblebees.
Posted 16 years ago # -
no bribe, just like knowing the pix are enjoyed. ah- these yellow flowers.
thanks. my eyes sort them closer to orange, but I see colors oddly.
the far contour looks off or I'd have guessed a wrench; it's almost right for an old-style punch-type oil-can spout, but lacking scale....
Posted 16 years ago # -
Yes, goody, you are right, that is orange. The colour ranges from deep purpure-red to sun-yellow.
No, Goody, you are not right no wrench I have no clue what a wrench is, no oil-can spout, no lacking scale.
When the sun is shining these flowers smell stark and good like honey.Posted 16 years ago # -
wrench? uhhh... spanner? tool for nuts and bolts?
Posted 16 years ago # -
wrenchlox, is it the handle on your coffee cup?
Posted 16 years ago # -
No Uhhh,no spanner, no nuts, no bolts and no coffee cup handle
Let me quote BuBBy : Google is your best friend.
What to google - that's the question; or did you miss a hint ?Posted 16 years ago # -
EXTRA HINT --------- EXTRA HINT
"One Chinese idiom about ***** is how "a toad wants to eat **** flesh!". This idiom is used derisively on men who desire women who are beyond their station in terms of wealth, social class or beauty." (quoted from Wikipedia)

Sorry, graylox. Your hint was too good! One quick Google search is all it took. Thanks for the very funny video. What are they singing? No matter, it's still cute! :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Sorry, but my universal translator is broken as well as (only my ?) you-tube. can't hear all the sentimental links.
Maizey you are really good with google; I reckoned that Lohengrin was a giveaway (!), didn't think that the Chinese would be so easy.Posted 16 years ago # -

A Parking Meter?
Posted 16 years ago # -
It's not a porthole nor a parking meter. It doesn't even start with a "P".
Posted 16 years ago # -
maizeydaze.........is it a hubcap on an antique car from the sunday put-in-bay antique car parade?
Paulga
Posted 16 years ago # -
Paulga, it doesn't have anything to do with a car.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Giant Compass?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Creamy, not a compass.
Hint: It has nothing to do with being on an island or the lake.
Posted 16 years ago # -
It's part of or in a lighthouse; part of the lamp; the mirror - or your sunglasses :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Howdy everyone.
