Your issue probably arises from your security software objecting to the wrapper GOTD uses.
Two possible workarounds:
a) disable your anti-virus and see if the program will install
b) boot in "safe mode with networking", install the program, and then reboot normally.
If you use Kapsersky then (b) is the only thing that will work.
I disabled antivirus Kapsersky but now I get in title bar NSIS ERROR. Under that; installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer’s author to obtain a new copy. More information at http//nsis.sf.NSIS_error
This problem started about three weeks ago. Did not have to extract anything but now I do and save it to desktop. Having trouble getting to safe mode. Will try again sometime tomorrow.
I get the same problem on the occasional programme - others install without problem. What makes me rather angry is that I have posted before about this and have either just got the message above - which does not work! I have disabled Kaspersky, booted in Safe Mode, re-downloaded - nothing works. Then on the next offering it installs without any problems, without having to do anything with Kaspersky. It seems to me that GAOTD has given up on this problem as I am finding that, if I try to comment, it never makes it through the Moderation process. Very frustrating.

The "Kaspersky Problem" isn't a GOTD problem. It's a specific Kaspersky problem that's been ongoing for a year and it impacts a tiny, tiny number PCs. The lack of a meaningful dataset is likely hindering problem resolution. However, it seems somewhat unlikely that Kaspersky is your issue as it "sometimes works".
If you want a better answer than the "standard reply" then you need to ask a better question; you need to supply more information than "it doesn't work". The OS you're using, the browser, which programs installed, which ones didn't, what have you tried to remedy the problem, etc.
