Hi Folks
Today’s game giveaway Bubble Odyssey is probably going to be my last Game Giveaway of the day review. Trying to write them within a deadline has become too much of a hassle. I’ve always tried to get the reviews posted as early in the day as possible so that more community members could get a better idea about the game as I find the developers preamble to be either insufficient or exaggerated, which for those on dial up; to find the game you’ve been downloading for the past six hours or more isn’t what it’s claimed to be, is no joke. I’d hoped to pass on some decent and unbiased information so that the choice as to whether to download or not would be made easier.
If only I had several or more hours to write them up, or even better at least a days notice so that I could leisurely research and write up a more erudite and succinct review then I’d be much happier. I have asked the Administrators on several occasions whether it would be possible to give me a heads up on what the next game would be the day before so that I could accomplish this ideal, but I have never received any comments from them. (apart from a PM from BuBBY, saying he had no say in the matter as he was only a volunteer - thanks for that BuBBy, at least you answered my request)
I do feel that the reviews I’ve been writing have become much too staid, especially of late, partly because of the time restriction. I need more time to think about what I’m writing these days because with all the opiates I have to take now I’m making far too many errors which for me is embarrassing as I’ve always prided myself on my English skills (though they are not brilliant); Also, I’m not enjoying the task at this point in time either as I seem to be scrambling to get the reviews posted virtually every day as it’s hard for me to get up when the giveaway change over occurs, which leaves even less time to complete each review. Virtually every review I’ve written recently hasn’t been proof read once I’ve finished it, simply because of that extra time it takes to read the thing. I don’t see the point of posting a review once the majority of the day has gone as most people have already downloaded the game and it would then seem like a pointless exercise.
I may still continue to post alternatives and short comments as do many others, but my long reviews are almost certainly going to stop; at least for the foreseeable future (unless the administrators were to grant my request above, as then it would become a much more pleasurable pastime again).
I really appreciate all the kind and thoughtful comments made by the majority of regulars to the giveaway project. I do hope I’ve given you all food for thought when it comes to alternatives, as there’s a vast library of games available that will (or at least should) suit everyone’s tastes. And I also hope my long winded attempts at reviewing over the past year haven’t been too boring. :) (Don’t answer that one as I'm too sensitive, lol)
I'm quite saddened by this decision, but feel because of the time restrictions it's for the best as I have become blindly focused on this task day in, day out; usually to the exclusion of everything else.
Again, thank you to everyone who has read my comments over the last year, and thank you to the game giveaway team for providing this fantastic service. :)
