I have been trying all day. When I try using my laptop (Windows 8.1) the download hangs at 3%. When I try using my desktop (Windows 7) the download hangs at 1%.

I wouldn't worry I downloaded and installed the software all to no avail!!! it failed to run, maybe some knows what is wrong with the software and being the season of goodwill, maybe they will give it away again!!??
It's just the same today with Process Lasso - 2% then it stops. I have tried turning my antivirus and firewall off but that doesn't make any difference. I have never had this problem with downloading from GiveAwayOfTheDay in the past.
It could be a problem with your browser or you may simply have no available bandwidth.
The easiest things to try:
- clear your history, temporary internet files and all GiveawayoftheDay cookies
- use a download manager
- use resource monitor or other network monitor to see if anything is using all of your bandwidth

Over time, I have repeatedly gotten messages that the downloaded files from the site are corrupted and that I should download a new copy. Repeating the download did not help and I missed several good offers.
I finally solved the problem - including with today's PDFZilla - by going directly to the publisher site, downloading the software from there and registering/activating it using the key or instructions in your text message.
