I hope everyone had an excellent Chritmas day and that the coming year brings happiness and prosperity to all community members as well as peace on earth (fat chance) and food for all.
What did you all get for Chrstmas? Please do post your stories of this 2014 Chritmas here. It's always pleasant to read about you all.
I bought a new laptop for my wife together with a decent knee laptop cooler, several pieces of comfortable lingerie (those stretch bra's etc) and some quality chocolates and our favorite Jelly Beans from the Jelly Bean Factory (love most of the flavours). My wife ate virtually the whole of one of those cup like packets with around 200g of jelly beans this evening when we go back from her parents. (I bought a cup full for all four of us) So moorish, lol.
I got the usual; a new pair of washable slippers, a new fleece dressing gown, (she buys me a new one every year because she knows I love the softness of them, which disappears after several washings) plus the usual toiletries. We'd actually agreed not to buy each other presents this year, but I couldn't resist buying her a new laptop as the old one is now several years old and very slow. She was always complaining that it would freeze, especially when she was working on lesson ideas, or researching stuff for her lessons. I will be using the old one, (which is a 1.8GHz single core cpu, with only 2GB of system RAM and an onboard graphics chip and a very small 250GB hard drive) as a DVD player and net surfer when we go on vacation as I tend to be stuck in the hotel room for a large part of our vacations due to my disabilities. I can go out for the day, but it knocks me out for 2 or 3 days afterwards, depending on what we've done on the day I go out. It also gives my wife a rest from having to push the wheelchair. Not very pleasant when you visit places like Montserrat.
We did buy some new household items such as a brevel toaster, a new microwave and a chain saw for the boundary trees and bushes (our boundary is completely surrounded with over 200 yards of various trees and shrubs that need trimming. All we had when we moved last year was one of those hedge cutters that jams with anything over a centimeter in thickness) We decided that these would be shared presents to each other, but it's not the same as buiyng a present specifically for them; which is why I decided to surprise my wife. I wasn't expecting anything either, so was pleasantly surprised when I got the new dressing gown and slippers. :)
