Thanks ozzyyzzo, I've not got around to uploading it yet (as you requested) - I never seem to have time to do all the jobs i've promised and sometimes let people down, though i always come through in the end, but will do so this week and post the link here. Do you want me to replace your link or leave it. I don't want you having to pay bandwidth fines if there are lots of downloads. (let me know how many download it as I'm interested in how the project is working out. Thanks.

Hi, ozzyyzzo, my security has blocked your site as a "Reported Attack Site".
First it was "only" your forum, but meanwhile even the main site. I have already sent you a mail with screen-shots.
I hope your site hasn't been hacked.

Thanks ozzyyzzo.
@notagrayfox :) FYI WOT doesn't have any problem with this site and the downloads have been clean according to my virus and antispyware scans.

Hi guys!
notblocklox is right, furiod.com has been attacked many times so we've got a problem with our server provider.. the full story on the forum -> http://www.furiod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5
Anyhow, we've got a secondary website (still not) referenced as black sheep :
enjoy your play! :)

@WhiteRabbit concerning how far the furiod download goes ^^
well, not terrible for a launch.. :-/
i guess this is mainly due to the bad advertising which have been done with our previous website banning from stop badware, google and hackers... i must say i'm quite bored and disgusted by all of that as the game releases have always been clean! :-/
So using MassMirror stats you can judge by yourself -> http://massmirror.com/02249b9097e0e1a156df8296846b94f2.html
doesn't give too much appetit to continue anything..
kind of : google got me and has killed the project. we'll see what the future will be made of.

Thanks Tuko. I really should update this thread.

There hasn't been much in the way of activity in this genre for ages. Since my last post on this thread we've seen maybe three or four new breakouts released. Of those I've forgotten the names of two of them simply because they were unremarkable. Of the other two, one I only found the other day over on Alawars site called Mega World Smash HERE. If you liked the Magic Ball series and the Strike Ball series then you'll love this game. After playing the first several levels it seems to be a hybrid of the two games. Magic Ball is now called Smash Frenzy, for some unknown reason Alawar decided to change the name of all four games in the series about 18 months ago. Anyway it's definitely got features from both of those games. I like the ability to upgrade your power ups as well by capturing stars that drop down. If you're an expert breakout player this won't give you that much of a challenge, having the same laid back style that both of it's parent games have; though trying to make sure you collect all of the stars from each level to ensure you can upgrade can cause you to lose the odd ball. It's really nothing special, but, if you are a breakout fan like me you'll want to buy it. Alawar have reduced the price of their games since I last added to this thread. You can pick this game up for £6.99. You can see a couple of videos of Mega World Smash HERE and HERE.
The Game:
Mega World Smash raises the bar for brick breaking games and makes Arkanoid FUN again! Tear through stunning 3D scenes using your ball and paddle, unleash weapons of mass destruction, and collect stars for upgrading the bonuses. The more you play, the more powerful your character will become! As you progress, you'll marvel at how the wildly creative animated levels realistically crumble to the ground and enjoy dazzling special effects that ignite your screen. The long wait for the next great Arkanoid game is over! Mega World Smash is here!

Here are a few images (which I posted in a seperate thread earlier):
A better breakout IMO is a game called Shatter, which I purchased via Steam. It's a 2D game with up to date graphics and a very nice style. Shatter is different to any breakout you'll have ever played before. It has several different game modes all of which are interesting and, more importantly challenging. This is the first breakout i've played that does pose a challenge in years. You can see a couple of videos HERE and HERE
The Game:
Shatter is a game similar to breakout with the main difference being you can control an air current. The more bricks you break, the more shards you release, which ups your multiplier. They also fill up your power-up meter which when filled, pressing triangle releases a powerful attack. This comes in handy when you’re fighting one of the nine or so boss battles. This PSN exclusive is old but comes highly recommended. I’m not sure how its slipped my radar! If you want to play a simple, easy to pick up, fast paced game, look no further. The paddle can shoot a marvelous display of laser bullets.
Shatter is also free with a PlayStation Plus subscription which is how I found it. Which, by the way, so far has been a good deal at $18 for three months or $50 for a year. I’ve downloaded dozens of themes and tons of free games since I subscribed in August. Of course, you can’t keep the games when you stop PSN+, but most of the games aren’t worth keeping either. Except Shatter!

You can read a decent review of the game HERE
Finally I was checking a site I've not recommended in quite some time because they changed their policy with respect to toolbars and changing your homee page. Basically they started to force you to install their tool bars and changed your home page before you could play their games, much like MyPlayCity. The site is FreeGamePick. It seems they have seen the error of their ways well at least for the five games I've just installed (sister games to Helic, the game we got yesterday for free via the game giveaway side of the project). While I was perusing the site I noticed a breakout I'd not seen on any of the free games sites before called Fun and Bullets. I suspect it's had a name change and I'm sure a friend gave me this game some years ago (Nola) Still, it's not a bad breakout and again, if you are a breakout fan you may want to go moseying on down to FreeGame Pick too download it HERE Unlike the two preceeding games this one is totally free and has a cowboy theme.
They also have a few more breakouts such as Arkan Ball, Gem Ball and Egyptian Ball. Of the three Egyptian Ball then Gem Ball are the better ones IMO. Egyptian Ball has decent game physics, with the bricks responding to being hit, by falling over etc. Gem ball is related to Nuclear Ball 1 & 2. Both of which have been given away previously via the gamegiveawayoftheday.
I'll try to find time to post some images and videos of other games that have been posted in this thread over the coming months.

The above mentioned Fun and Bullets was originally called Cow Ball.
Have a question you might be able to answer. I hope I didn't dream this one up in my head, but I swear I played this arkanoid style game that had kind of a punky feel to it in the fact that you basically went around a circuit and played against the owners of these clubs to have bragging rights...
Any clues??? Or did I just come up with a good idea in my dreams, lol
Posted 12 years ago # -
Ah yes, Cow Ball. I knew it was something like that. As for the other game, sounds like it could be a decent breakout. I'm sure I would have come across it if it was real :) Sounds like you've got a good idea going, lol. Though I may be wrong.

When Gamezebo used to have the never ending game quiz, I would play it and write down games that looked interesting and I swear this was one I downloaded but I can't find any trace of it on the site, but then Joel keeps changing things around and losing half of it!
When I played a demo I liked I kept it in a folder but removed the game so the name would be there to remind me. Well since I lost that drive I lost my reminder...

I've updated the Jardanians post by ZF. Jardanians 2 lite is now also free. You can find more details in the Jarkanoid thread HERE

Jardinains: A Free, Classic and Addictive Block Breaking Game for Windows, Linux and Mac

Recently I found this game in one of my friends computer and got addicted to this amazing game. I searched on Internet and found the official website to download this game.
"Jardinains" game is actually a new version of old classic block breaking ball and paddle games like Arkanoid and Breakout. You get a paddle and a ball in this game. You can move this paddle left and right using your mouse. You can also click your mouse to do various things (such as releasing the ball or firing weapons).
Above your paddle, you'll see an assortment of bricks. You need to destroy these bricks with the ball which you strike by the paddle. Hit all the bricks with the ball and you'll move to the next level.
Jardinains_Free_Classic_Game.png
Sounds easy? Well here comes the twist. Inside the bricks live "Nains". Nains are cute little critters who pop out of their bricks every now and then to have some fun and give you a headache. You and the nains don't see eye to eye. They want to throw stuff at your paddle; you want to knock them off their bricks. Luckily, your ball is a great way to knock nains off bricks.
Once you've knocked the nains off the bricks, you can bounce them for points, bonuses, and personal gratification. These powerups will (usually) help you knock more nains off their bricks even faster than before, often with amusing results.
The game comes in 4 modes: Easy, Normal, Hard and Insane. It also allows you to create multiple players so that you can use one for you, one for your friend and so on.
The game is absolutely free and there is a paid version as well. If you like the free version, you can buy the full version for a whole slew of extra levels, nains, and other good stuff.
You can download it using following link:
Download Jardinains Game
BONUS TIP: The game comes with some cheat codes. To cheat just pause the game by pressing P key, now press the C key, and click OK. Now you can use following keyboard cheats while the game is running:
Press G to keep from losing your ball (and to substantially grow your paddle)
Press N to advance to the next level
Press the number 1-7 to change your ball
Press S to toggle slow motionBear in mind that enabling cheats will disqualify your current game from the high-score list.

the above website has giveaways and other interesting articles, tips, ect.
Very well organized and helpful.The game is rather enjoyable depending on how one gets "Nained". {:}

Ionball 3Posted 7 years ago # -
I've been revisiting some of my old breakouts recently, and have even contacted a few of the developers asking if there is anything in the works. for example, Caromble is still in early access despite being four years old now. I originally gave this a thumbs down in my Steam review becasue I felt there was issues with the bat being too sluggish (resulting in lots of lost balls, plus the ball physics was way off IMO. Well I'm happy to report that after a recent play through I can say both of those issues have been sorted by the small development team, who I believe work together most Friday evenings on fixing bugs and adding more content to the game. I must say I'm actually really impressed with what they have achieved and would highly recommend the game.
Sadly, two of the decent breakouts that were available on Steam have since been removed for various reasons. The first was Ricochet Infinity, which I still consider one of the best breakouts ever made due in part to loads of original power ups, a massive variety of brick types and a decent level editor as well as lots of ball types and bats, each with its own peculiarity and the availability of literally tens of thousands of free levels (via level sets ranging from a few levels to over a hundred) directly from in game. Amazon purchased the license from Reflexive Arcade several years ago and kept the upload site open until earlier this year. Those custom levels are no longer available because Amazon shut the site down. They have also removed the game from sale for now. You can still buy it via sites like Big Fish games,(HERE) but the game has been cut in half because of the inability to access all of those levels. If you can find anyone who downloaded them previously and still has the game installed, it is possible to add them to your game as you literally just drop them into a level folder. I actually have some, but not all. I downloaded several thousand levels years ago before Infinity was released and all of those levels from previous versions of Ricochet still work with infinity, though they are not as exciting and varied as the Infinity levels as there were many more brick types and backgrounds available for infinity. I'm sure someone somewhere will have uploaded some of those level sets, trouble is finding them.
Another excellent breakout that has been removed was Reaxxion, that had a brilliant bat mechanic, which enabled you to create balls from the bat and then rebuild the bat by collecting drops of mercury that were dropped from the bricks you'd destroyed. Other original ideas in that game such as collecting some of the balls which then were converted into a special more powerful power up made it a must buy for any breakout fan. That is also still available from the big name distributors such as Big Fish (HERE).
The only other 'really' decent breakouts available on Steam are Shatter and Ionball 2: Ionstorm, though
Ionball 3 that was released last year looks decent, but I've curtailed my spending on games significantly over the last couple of years (after spending over £40 000 on games since joining Steam in 2009) so haven't had chance to play it yet. It sort of reminds me of Luxor Evolved the ball popping and last in the series of the Luxor match three game with respect to its neon like graphics.Posted 5 years ago # -
B.T.W, both Ionball 3 and Energy Invasion have since been released on Steam since I posted about them previously.
Other breakouts that may be worth buying if you are really into breakouts are the 3D breakouts Grey Cubes (only £0.79/$0.99) and
Breakout Invaders (£2.79)Posted 5 years ago # -
Last year Steam released Action Ball 2 a decade plus old breakout on Steam. I posted a review of the game because it is one of the best 3D breakouts I've ever played and is still among my top ten breakout games I've ever played. If the comments section of the review I've posted updated links to several (originally commercial but now free) breakouts that are definitely worth checking out.
You can find the review HERE

Just an update and trying to consolidate any threads that contain breakout related information.
The link to download custom made levels within the game Ricochet Infinity was closed down a few years ago. It was possible back then to add thousands of fan made levels directly from in game.
Thankfully I found a site created by fans of the game that has managed to save most of the best level sets; and are available to download and manually add to your installed version of the game.
You can find the thread called Ricochet infinity downloadable Level Sets - STILL AVAILABLE as of Nov 2019 HERE
It seems the game is no longer available via Amazon, but you can get it from one of the decent abandonware sites. I've linked to those in the thread above. i.e. HERE

I've started to update some of the comments, adding new links and later images of the games I've mentioned. So far I'm still working on the first comment, which has a lot of different games mentioned. Some of the links are broken, so I will be searching for suitable working links. I've also started to add links to security scans for the games I've links to downloads.

Action Ball and Chak's Temple Action Ball
Great News, one of my all time favorite 3D breakouts Action Ball is finally being released on steam sometime in March this year. The developer released the sequel Actionball 2 back in 2020 and in one of the discussions posted a comment saying that if 100 community members liked the comment, he would release the firs tone. Well, it never got to 100 I think it stands at 64 votes), but he's still releasing it, Yeah!
Chak's Temple
Also, available free is another excellent and unusual breakout called Chak's Temple. The developer made this freeware over a decade ago, yet I still see it being sold on some of the shareware sites. I know it was made freeware because I was in touch with the developer at the time.
I've checked several download sites, but most of the files I downloaded were suspect with up to 20 malware hits. The only site I downloaded a copy that was totally free from malware hits was from My Real Games HERE; I checked it against Virus Total and it was given a clean bill of health. You can see the result of the scan HERE
I've not yet had the pleasure of downloading and installing any games from My Real Games; so cannot say what sort of system they use; suffice it to say that all the free game sites I know of that stock games permanantly or for extended periods all have an advert based giveaway so that they can pay the developers for allowing them to give them away.
It was originally given away HERE way back in April 2007, where it received a positive 88% from 269 votes with 64 comments.
