Hi y'all.....I remember someone liked the look of Glyph the last time Merscom offered one of their games. I liked it and paid for it... wouldn't ya know...then found it free on http://www.mostfungames.com. I think this site has been noted before.....but again can't hurt. I've downloaded quite a few from this site...only problem is when you close game...it sends you to their website/or you have to put up with an ad after several levels periodically. Only one game....Pirate Poppers, had the ad popups after several levels...which kind of drives ya nuts. But one out of many isn't bad. Give the site a try....has tons of games.

These games are more interesting when you have to take a drink each time you see an ad.
After a while you won't even see the ads. :)

Thanks for the link Sandy. I unfortunately also bought Glyph. I'd jhighly recoment it to anyone.

Check out the Rag Doll game If you want to get the link that Sandy posted to work be sure to delete the full stop that's included after the .com as the way it's written it won't work. It's not really a game, more like a physics demo.
Rag Doll:
http://www.mostfungames.com/ragdoll.htm
You move the rag doll by clicking and dragging it with the mouse pointer.
p.s.
I hope the ladies don't mind the fact that the rag doll is a bikini clad female. There's nothing salubrious about it.

I play their games on my desktop which is running XP Pro, but their games and game manager does not currently run on Vista (my laptop). I own lots of their listed games, unfortunately, but some I don't. Nice to be able to play the full versions for free, and the occassional ads don't bother me much.

I went to the site via whabbit's link.
The only place I found Glyph was in their download section and it wasn't Free, it was just a demo!
Am I missing something here?Suki

I think your right sukibabe, I also only found demo's. I think Sandy may have read that it said free, but this often means a free demo. I thought it strange that Glyph would be given away free as it's one of the better match three or more games that are so common these days. :(

Sorry, I didn't read Sandy's post very well. The site with the free "full version" games that I use is http://www.mostfun.com/. They actually have several new or newer games available.
You have to download their game manager (kinda like RealArcade) and open it each time to play your games or download more.Keri

GReat link kerikaz. I'm assuming the ones that have the blue tag saying play online are the ones you play using their download manager. Not a bad deal really as there are a few decent games included such as Mythical Marbles, which I love.

Okay, thanks to Lekanaw's effusive compliments (another check's in the mail, L), my hat won't fit on my head today. Still, that doesn't explain why, when I went to the mostfun.com site, I couldn't find a big honking button that screams "GLYPH". I ended up googling to find a direct link -
http://www.freewarebox.com/free_18055_mostfun-glyph-free-unlimited-play-version-download.htmlFreewarebox also points to a few other freebies (unlimited play type) on mostfun -

Chicktionary, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Legend of Zelda, Luxor 2, Mega Man - 1 thru 4BTW, Bubby, the Ragdoll "game" was uncomfortably, nay, disquietingly entertaining. I kept thinking of my stalker every time I grabbed that limber leg and shook vigorously. :-) FWIW, I don't recall drunk females in the dorm ever being that flexible! Not here long today, thought I'd chime in with the others with a congrats on the promotion, which, if volunteer jobs are as I remember, comes with a heap more responsibility and a doubling of that generous $0 salary.
Being an archer of no particular repute, I had to try mostfun's little archery game -

Pointing the arrow straight up and letting her fly makes for a very good object lesson on aiming too high. Sorta the opposite of shooting oneself in the foot.Posted 16 years ago # -
The online games don't require the game player, you can play them in your browser I believe. At the top of the site if you click on "all games", everything they have available is there and you can sort various ways. I found Glyph when I ordered the list by name. Next to each game there is a button that says "get game" or "play online" or both. The "get game" button is the one that downloads the full version. You can also read about the game player in the "how it works" link. FYI, when I initially loaded the game player it automatically began to download 3 games. You can stop this quickly if they are not games that you are interested in. Also remember, unfortunately this does not work on Vista yet. Hope that helps and good luck and good games to all! Keri

here's a slightly different version of the ragdoll game:

Hi again all. Sorry I'm a duh...gave the incorrect website for the "free" Glyph game. It should be http://www.mostfun.com (with no period after it....was ending my sentence, lol). Anyhew...it is a "free full-version game"....NOT a demo (no disrespect Stephen). It does have pop-up ads, which as bubby says it's very nice to fill with a drink of your choice. Perhaps Stephen was confused by the "buy now" button on the right of the ad, which indicates if you buy it, ya won't have to put up with the ads, and all that drinking...which could lead to alcoholism! Anyway....it is free, and not the demo version...you just have to put up with ads in this game. Some of the games, you don't have to put up with ads, just takes you to the website after you finish playing game. Hope I didn't confuse anyone ;).

Funky, that version clearly refutes physics. To acccurately portray the principles of airhead dynamics, shouldn't that ragdoll be rising?
Oh mercy, have I gone and touched a hotbutton issue? :-) I'm such a baaaad boy.

I went to http://www.mostfun.com but I can't download any games from there. It just keeps telling me that the gameplayer isn't available for my type of computer yet. What does that mean? How do I fix it?

Just a suggestion - when you have a question that involves your computer, it really really helps if you tell us your computer's specs - PC/Mac, which OS and browser (name and version #), etc. Also, the EXACT wording of any error message, including any code #'s if available. When you log onto a site, the server uses coding to query your computer for the above info, and from that, can tell if your computer, OS, browser version and even things like video card and bandwidth is capable of running the program. It might even determine where approx you're located to adjust times or tailor ads served.
If mostfun.com only reports that the gameplayer isn't available for your "type" of computer may be a classic example poor software documentation on the developer's part. It should give you more info. (and may, if you look around for a FAQ file or computer requisites list)

Sorry, still kind of new to this and I don't really know that much about computers. I'm still using Windows 98 Second Edition with Internet Explorer 6. The message I get on the Mostfun website is:
The gameplayer is not yet available for your type of computer, but we are working on it. Sign up to be notified when it becomes available.Hope this helps.

Hi again, Miss Andrea,
No need to apologize. I suspect many folks will agree that you've eked just about all you can out of Win98/IE6. (I'm guessing, you're running an older/slower computer and video card, too) Don't feel bad. Some of the "real" gamers on this board have told me my latest system is already outdated for the demanding games they enjoy. sigh
As the Bill Gates Monopoly champions shorter support life cycles in order to force new operating systems down the public's collective throat, you're probably going to experience planned obsolescence of the high tech kind at an increasing pace.
IMHO, considering your system, that generic message you got is politely telegraphing "don't hold your breath waiting for us to make a backwards compatible gameplayer." Seriously, I recommend you create a "Favorites" folder called "Games2Download on my Next PC" so you don't lose games that sound really useful or exciting but won't run right now. Me, I have about 75 in that folder! :-( What's worse, thanks to certain eagle-eyed GAOTD posters here, I have a folder with another 182 appls I could be using, but haven't even had time to download or install!

Thanks for all your help. Since I'm using the pc at work, it will probably take forever before they upgrade it. I have made a note of the website and as soon as I get my system up and running at home I'll start downloading. Thanks again for the quick response, the first time that I actually got a reply the same day and the information was worth reading. Enjoy your day!

Hi RM:
Hey buddy Thank You! I laughed and laughed about ur "Warning"...
Hubby came down to see what was going on!!! Oh yeahhh, Mango Juice!!And for all the newbies to the forums, RM ain't kidding either. We are all so behind, it isn't pretty to look at our backlog of "to Dwld", "to Learn", "to Install", "to Read"!!
Last time we looked into ur folder, 2 weeks ago, it was ~150. May I plizz know WHAT did u add within the last 2weeks for it to grow 22 more?? (Yeah, I'm keeping count, I have a good memory and it's just too funny). When I first was aware of it last November it was ~50. Around Xmas was ~97. So it has more than tripled since November!!
It's just sad... But funny!!! Bhwahawahawa You are too much :-D
Peace, ManuPS: Hi Andrea, u are new here, so u don't know, but this forum IS different from others. We actually DO HELP each other. It's more a Community than a forum, per se.

Hey PPL, MostFun games won't play on Vista. :( Broke my heart.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Andrea,
I got the same message as you did on my Vista laptop. It does work on my XP Pro desktop, though. I'm new also, but have been reading posts for awhile. Great bunch of people here and very helpful.Keri

LOL! Yeah, I should be doing others things to try to get up to date with computers and technology, but it is more fun reading the posts here!

yes, and I have learned quite a lot here besides all giggles

Hi Lekanaw, still translating my novel? :-)
Sorry for not posting a ManuMango Alert, but it's really kinda amusing to think that at anytime, you could be splattering your monitor with juice and attracting hubby's attention. Ain't I a baaaaah boy? Think of my posts as a sort of an ongoing freeware combat giggle game. You never know when you're going to step on a laughmine and get "mangoed."Download Count Update: Last night, during a very risque French film (don't usually do subtitles, but that was definitely worth it!), I consolidated most of my need2download, need2install and freeware sites folders. The count has soared exponentially, making one of FwF's links posts look like it was done by an amateur instead of Gizmo's finest. Many of the 187 I'd been counting weren't just individual zips, but links sites with dozens if not hundreds of downloadable progs, games, etc. Too many to count, many I'd totally forgotten about. The count now numbers in the thousands, and I am resigned to the hard cold fact I'll never catch up.
