Your contact form is insisting I am using illegal characters in my name (Betty M) and email and I assure you I'm not. I was trying to suggest a great piece of freeware for your free listing.
your contact form is broken

It's quite strange, we've checked the form, it works fine. What kind of e-mail address do you have? (you don't need to put your real e-mail here, a pattern would be enough to check out)

Hi there,
I recently downloaded one of your giveaway's (Feed Mix, to be precise) but was sorely disappointed to find that I'm not able to install it! I don't have internet access on my own PC (can't even afford a phoneline) and access the internet from a local cafe. Is there any way round this ridiculous system you've implemented for people such as myself? There are many other ways to prevent people abusing your giveaway system, so it's completely unreasonable that genuine people like myself are missing out!
Thanks in advance,
Lee Cosgrove

Your contact forms ARE broken! I've tried using both the main contact form (inside the "about" directory), and the blog contact form (and both on 2 different machines), but they keep giving the following error:"You can not use any of the following in the Subject, Name or Email fields: a linebreak, or the phrases ‘mime-version’, ‘content-type’, ‘cc:’, ‘bcc:’, ‘http://’, or ‘to:’. Additionally, ‘< and >’ (and all HTML) tags are also prohibited."
I only put 2 words in the subject: "Install issues". I even tried "Installation" in case you were using a cheap & tacky script that only allowed a one word subject!

They use intouch. But it seems to be incorrectly placed. As intouch does not block http:// or < >

@ausongbird - i thought the contact form was broken too, but after frequent postings and emails realized that the admins just ignore any questions about the partner program (or presumably anything else they don't have a good answer for).
If your question was regarding that, please let me know if you ever get a reply. I'm going to bump my forum post up again, but it's been nearly a month since my initial contact and posts with no answer ... :(

Gee! I guess people don't understand what "No support!" actually means. If you want support, you have to pay money. Why is this hard for others to understand? Heck even paid support is awful most of the time.
Posted 17 years ago # -
@billw - recommend you read my posts, I'm not looking for support, just for gotd to live up to (or really, at this point even to respond to my questions about) their much-advertised 'partner program'. If you look on the front page in the mid-right part of the page they say ...
" Tell your blog or website visitors about us and have your own feed and logo featured on our page! "However, once having done that there is no quid pro quo - have you ever seen my site or logo anywhere on any gotd page? No? Well, neither have I. My question is not for support, it is simply "what's up?" Is there really a partner program or are they just trying to get additional references through a fraudulant 'partner' program?
I would have been more than happy to just link to them and have them as a cool site of the day on my blog and show without the promise, but since they promised to respond in kind I feel used and not a bit put out; particularly so after a month of requesting a response with not even a 'we're sorry, it's on our to-do list'.
So @bill, please read the posts and understand the topic before replying. @admins, please read the posts and reply, with or without understanding.

Yes I have read and understood everything TechTalk. You're upset because GAOTD won't list your site under the "Partner Program". But you are also spamming in these forums. And spammers are the *most* hated in netland. So what part don't I understand? lol
Posted 17 years ago # -
not spamming bill, just relaying my same dissapointment as ausongs that I cannot seem to receive a response on any contact I have tried to make. help me make this site a better one by insisting that the admins live up to their promise - or stop promising, either way! It's basic business ethics.
Posted 17 years ago # -
If you are not spamming, then how about keeping it under "Partner Program - what's up?" then? And if they didn't answer in the past 19 days, I don't think they will answer you in the next 19 years. So I would give up. Take it or leave it.

I'm not big on the whole giving up thing bill, except for smoking and sugars maybe which I did about 5 years ago :)
and to the admins, i would really appreciate a response to any of the emails, topics or posts I put up regarding the partner program. thanks for your time.

@BillW50 - Hahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
Ahem, I apologize for that completely unprofessional outburst **tries to stop laughing**, but come on! Bill, what are you trying to prove? And to who?? You sound like the admin's mother going to bat for him when s/he's to scared to do it!
Just to clear something up, nobody in this thread is asking for support with the software given away through the website. With regards to my previous post, I was having problems with the customized installation program CREATED BY GAOTD! As it won't install unless an internet connection is found (something they blatantly neglected to mention on any part of the website, along with the time limit imposed on installations)! If they had been up front about in the first place there would have been no need for me to even register for this half-baked forum (talking about the design, not the members :-D)! **resists the urge to punch the nearest person, who now has BillW50 across his forehead**
And speaking of unprofessional, that's exactly how the so-called admin is acting. It's actually kind of sickening!

@weare - now now, no need for violence my friend ... remember, it's all just 1's and 0's - sometimes we get treated to a lot more 0's than we would prefer, but that's cyberlife (and admins) for ya!

2 WeAreWatching:
I just typed "Install issues" into the subject field, I also have filed all the other fields with test content and have submitted the form: no error messages. So what exactly do you type in every field, and what browser you use to get this error, this information is required so we could check our form.Posted 17 years ago # -
Lol, I know. Believe it or not I'm usually the "voice of reason" on most of the communities I'm a member of, but it seem's a long day of scripting a PHP Article Directory (again with the 1's & 0's, lol) has shortened my fuse a little... or maybe a lot. Anyway, the guy next to me seemed to leave in a hurry, wonder why, lol (j/k) :-D
By the way TT, cool Podcast site, I may use it in the future as a resource for my online marketing. ;->

2 admin:
I'm in a cafe so need to just give you the gist...
I put my name in the name field, my email address in the address field, the subject (install issues) in the subject field and my message in the text box. As I said, I'm short of time so forgive me for giving a word-for-word example. And it was Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP2) I used.

I've always been proud of being able to admit when I've made a mistake, and I SORT OF have in this case. I tried it again with the following:
Name: Lee Cosgrove
E-Mail: (I'll leave this blank for obvious reasons :-D)
Subject: Let's See...
Message:Ok, I'll try this again to see if it works THIS TIME!
Lee Cosgrove
We Are Watching
http://www.WeAreWatching.co.nrIt didn't work. However, I then decided to try it without my website address (this is the standard way I sign almost all e-mails/contact forms, it's a basic marketing technique), so the message was:
Ok, I'll try this again to see if it works THIS TIME!
Lee Cosgrove
WeAreWatching.co.nrIt did work this time. It goes without saying though (or so you'd think) that it should be clearly marked ABOVE the form that it doesn't allow URL's to be contained within the message area. So yes I made a mistake, but the admin was also at fault there.
Anyway, it still doesn't address my original issue (and of course, tere's been no e-mail reply either!).

Initially I was wondering what the second field was for on the form - as the headers don't line up with the text fields. (There are 4 boxes for text entry - and only headers on box 1, 3 and 4 -- 4 has two headers).
For me it was just a layout issue - till I worked out the second field was for an email address - as the email header was next to the third field.

BuBBy,
this bug has been fixed, thank you.Posted 17 years ago # -
Hmm..I am wondering...
If a widget works for a thousand people, and it does not work for one,
would you say that the thousand people are wrong? Or would you say that it is
possible the one made a mistake or had an error?
As much as you very intelligent people are what I believe to be well intentioned,
it is possible to make a mistake or get a bad download. The admins of this group
were not standing at your keyboard forcing you to make a mistake or corrupt your download, so please, stop jumping down their throats everytime you feel like like a "zero" And yes, I do read the posts TechTalk. I just do not see anything intelligent in some of them. Makes me feel sorry for the admins.Posted 17 years ago # -
And I feel sorry for papasmurf, who can only lecture and point out other peoples mistakes... makes you feel big does it not papasmurf... make it a positive comment next time, that would really state intelligence wouldn't it?... improve the world and start with yourself. I think the admins are doing a wonderful job and it is still all for free. I wish everyone would remember that.

freebird31, you have illustrated the point very well.Posted 17 years ago #
