With the growing number of repeats of programs offered on GOTD, a question that is becoming asked more frequently is, how does today's offered software differ from the previous offering of that particular program?
Sometimes there may be large changes, sometimes very few, but if there is no change then that would also be useful to know. I realise that it would be a logistical nightmare to try to list the differences between versions, therefore I would simply like to see alongside the program name the version number as well. Some people would still ask the question, but at least if we can see a different version number then we can be fairly certain that we are getting an updated version.
An example is the recent Icon Constructor 3. The most recent version was 3.54 compared with the previous version at 3.52, but the IC 3 program title does not in itself indicate that the two versions were different (now if it had been IC 4 ...). I still don't know the differences, but the different version number does suggest a change. If people then want to follow up on the actual differences they can be steered to the software supplier's website.
