Hello all. This is a call for anyone who would like to become a category editor for the new website
that Gizmo is making. In case you are not familiar with who Gizmo is, or what he is well known for,
you can go to Gizmo Richards' Tech Support Alert website, at http://www.techsupportalert.com/ .
Just a little ways down the page, you'll see the section that says "The Best Free Utility Programs. Check out Gizmo's famous list of the 46 best-ever free utility programs. Great freeware that works just as well as expensive commercial programs. Better still, subscribe to Gizmo's free newsletter and get 71 more of his latest finds plus more in each monthly issue." Gizmo Richards is well known, and well respected world-wide, and has well over 175,000 subscribers. That's a huge user base, and has huge implications.
This is the part of his operation that we are looking for reliable people to become category editors for. I say we, because Gizmo has made me a Moderator in the Editors User Group, and in the overall progress of things relating to getting the new website up and running. Not only do I have the pleasure of getting him his coffee, donuts, and answering the phones (LOL), but he has allowed me to become responsible for some of the behind the scenes activities related to getting this new site up and running.
You see, Gizmo will be turning the 46 Best Ever and the 71 Best Ever lists into a Wiki type feature. This will enable more people the opportunity to submit entries that they think are note worthy, make comments and suggestions, and generally access the information they want in a new and improved manner. I feel it's going to be a huge success and am really excited about the whole project.
Here's what you would be basically looking at, if you think you would like to become an editor. At this point in time, all we are doing is migrating the existing categories, with the information they already contain, over to a new website. I'm doing my best to arrange things so that each editor is only assigned approximately 5 categories. No major strain that way. At this point, the only thing an editor has to do is to check spelling, punctuation, and correctness of information in the existing categories. No major re-write, no hunting on the internet for new programs, nothing like that. Once your categories have been checked by you, and put into a new format for the site ( a very easy task), you then send them to me for approval, and once approved, you get to progress to the next step, which is to actually do some practice entries over at the new site. This will let you get comfortable creating new content, checking entries, and making approvals within your assigned categories for the time when we go live, and you do that for public entries.
Here is the most important thing to me, folks. I'm looking for people who are responsible, reliable, and have a level head on their shoulders. If any of you know Gizmo, you know that he always strives for the best, and I intend to do all I can to make sure this new project is the best possible! There are some really good members on this board, and that's the reason I'm making this post. If it were possible that I had everyone's email address, I would have emailed you personally, but as you all know, that's not within the guidelines of this forum.
So, if you're still reading this post, and if you'd like to become rich, famous, drive a luxury car, live in a huge mansion, and be someone who can make a difference, then why not become a 46Best editor? OK, so you can at least be someone who can make a big difference and be part of Gizmos' new site. :-) And if you want, you'll even get credit for being the editor of your categories.. :-)
If you would like to sign up, please upload a .txt file with the name you use here on this forum and your email address, to this site http://www.4shared.com/dir/5280087/6520f045/sharing.html. I can then contact you, and give you further information. This is awkward, but the only solution I can come up with. As soon as I have your text file, I'll delete it so that it's not available to anyone else. I just need your nick and an email addy I can contact you at. Once I approve your membership, I'll direct you to a page that lets you see what categories still need editors, and you can tell me which ones you would like to handle. No promises that you'll get what you ask for, but I will do my very best. It's sort of first come, first serve, more or less....
OK, that's about it. If you have any questions, just let me know. I believe that most of them will be answered by themselves once you gain access to the editor's group.
Thanks much, and remember.... Enjoy the journey!!
