   I am one of those people who has Kaspersky Internet Security installed and finds it necessary to reboot into safe mode in order to install GOTD giveaways. This approach usually works but not with EaseUS Todo Backup Home today because at the start of installing it displays a message saying that it is not accessible in safe mode.

   However if one downloads the trial version from the EaseUS website then the key given in the GOTD Readme file does get accepted and, voila, one has the licensed version of the software.

   BUT... having to do a 100MB download from GOTD just to get the activation key does seem a bit excessive so could an alternative method to just provide an activation key be provided for those of us with the Kaspersky problem? It's too late for me but might be useful for others who see this before downloading today's installation files, and could prove similarly useful for some future giveaways (apologies if I haven't found an existing thread that provides such a solution).

   p.s. I use the free version of EaseUS Todo Backup Home for disk image backups and find it very useful.

   Problem is you need to install a driver -- ToDo backup, like many [all?] of the partition/disk image backup apps, uses at least a driver to take a snapshot of Windows as it is when the backup's performed. Otherwise stuff is too rapidly changing &/or in use. Working with drivers is iffy in Safe Mode -- after all it's purpose is to not run as many drivers as it can get away with, in case a driver-related issue is causing problems. Many backup apps, e.g. Paragon, also add drivers to mount archives as virtual disks.

   It's also a situation where a VM can be pretty much useless, for the same reason, driver installation. You can't just copy a driver into place -- you can copy driver files & reg entries &/or .inf files, but then you're getting beyond some people's comfort zone. That said, sometimes you do get lucky & the program's folder contains the driver installation files.

   I run Bitdefender & have had it object on occasion to a GOTD that either included a driver, &/or for whatever reason I wanted to check it out in my full win7 setup. In those cases a two-step was necessary -- boot into Safe Mode, switch Bitdefender off, boot into Windows & run the GOTD, then of course perform the reverse to get Bitdefender back on. I've no reason to doubt that would work with Kaspersky as well, though I can't say definitely because when I added Kaspersky to one of my VMs, to perhaps diagnose the problem, it worked with GOTDs perfectly.

   A final note, FWIW, I have ran various backup giveaways in a VM & then created the rescue disc, and left it at that. Can't actually restore a back up of a Windows disk/partition while you're in Windows, & creating them outside of Windows works better with smaller archives [there's much less for the backup software to deal with]. So from a more purist standpoint, creating, burning the disc is all you really need.
