I'd appreciate a good software that allows parents to set a limit for the pc usage of teenagers, or help kids or even adults to gain self-control of the usage of pc. I tried a couple of it, they messed up the video card or can be easily deleted by kids at safe mode. I can see it have a huge need in the market.

I've never used it, but bsafe online http://www.bsafehome.com/ is frequently advertised on the radio station my mother listens to, you might want to check it out.

Hello Helena: try http://www.salfeld.com/software/childcontrol/index.html
I bought it last year and you can control both PC times and internet times per user account. It has a lot of options, perhaps almost too many for the average user including White List of Applications, Grouping of Applications with group time limit (say Action Games 1 hour a day), extension times over PIN numbers.
My son hates the program as depending on the setting he can't even change the desktop image ....

I have tried just about everything out there but my kids figured out how to break past the defenses. Luckily, though, I still know more than they do about computers, and using that knowledge have caught my teen son visiting a porn site (He knew enough to clear the History, but Windows does everything in 3's, it seems, so I found out using other methods, like, the temp files) Heh heh. I also don't allow computers in the bedrooms, ours are in the living room, where it is so easy for me to watch them using the system, or I'm on it doing my work. Plus, sometimes those programs would block sites that we needed, like ones on breast cancer or childbirth or whatever else was deemed inappropriate. It's hard to control their use if you're not at home, unless you can lock down the computer somehow and then find out if they were on it by looking through your system files. But my real point is that if you don't already know a lot about your system, learn. Our community college, I believe, offers free classes on using things like Windows Vista or XP.
Then when you catch your kid, they are going to think, "Dang! Mom or Dad is smarter than they look!" I do random checks, which my kids know I do, and so far, they've been good. They're on too long sometimes for my taste, but I can't say much about it if they're keeping up in school and working. If none of those things work, move the computer to your bedroom. They won't sneak in at night, because you'll wake up to the typing noises and ground them the first time it happens. :-)
Good luck!

I'm using Computertime, from http://www.softwaretime.com/ I needed it because it was a constant fight between our 2 girls who could use the computer. Also it's good to restrict the computer-use to a pre-defined time. I like it...
