Sundays game giveaway is well over 800MB in size, so if you've got a slow internet speed, coupled with the fact that tomorrows game really is a premium game, so loads of community members will be downloading it, there's going to be a massive bottleneck with the servers bandwidth so download speeds are likely to be extremely slow
Sundays game is very large - start downloading early

The GOTD download of Dreamscapes The Sandman Collectors Edition has the bulk of the installation files in the gcd file, which then has to be written to memory where it's run. It's probably a fair assumption that everything that winds up in the game's folder is expanded into memory as well. I wonder if a lot of systems cannot handle that -- don't have the resources what with Windows & whatever running software holding on to their share? To me that might explain why one of the comments said something like shutting down Anvir helped. I was worried about it in a VM with only 1GB Ram allocated, but without a lot of background processes running & plenty of disk space it was fine.
IF that is the case than perhaps some of the folks having trouble might have success shutting extra stuff down, maybe using one of those game helper apps or Process Explorer or Safe Mode or msconfig to turn services & such off?
On another note, I've started looking closer at these games since the other day when I tried one & it wouldn't run on this PC. Turns out this game uses Unity rather than one of the older game engines & runs fine. Doesn't do me any good as far as checking compatibility with the older stuff goes, but the fact it uses Unity might be useful in accounting for some of the problems some people are having?

Thanks Mikiem. I sometimes recommend using Game Booster which is free. It temporarily shuts down system programs that aren't needed while playing games and can recover up to 40% of your system resources.
