   Hi there!

   I have been reading posts and downloading software here for about three years, but have never posted a message. However, I do really need some help if someone could please point me in the right direction.

   I am after a free application that enables me to create a To Do List with tasks and then sub-tasks branching from it, which can be viewed as tasks due today, next week, etc. I have tried a few from Google, but none seem to be right for me.

   Wunderlist looks great, but is not available for Windows 8.1.

   abstractspoon To Do List is great, but it crashes when I try to save the list and then I cannot find it installed on my PC / it won't open the To Do Lists I have stored

   Toodledo, trello and don't forget the milk were all a little too simple and seemed to be web based.

   Ideally, I would like something I can manage mainly on my PC (not via the web) and then view either by saving it into Dropbox or smartphone app.

   I know you guys are really knowledgeable, so I would really appreciate any guidance.

   If you visit this page at Majorgeeks you'll find a number of task managers. You might give EssentialPIM and ToDoList 6.8.10 a look. Both products are rated as "5" by users, work on Windows 8, and are free.

   You might give both a shot as you may prefer one interface to the other. FWIW, EssentialPIM Pro has been given away here a number of times but the free version will do what you want and is generally well regarded.

   Thank you so much for your prompt response, Chris. I have tried those you suggested and those on the page you gave me a link to - and Task Unifier is just what I am looking for - thank you so much! Now I can get organised! :-)

   There are so many task managers there that can serve the purpose. I agree with ChrisS that you should give ToDoList 6.8.10 a try for best results. And then you can use it for free.
