I used to catch the same coach from Catterick Garrison to Leeds via Darlington, that was bombed by the IRA while it traveled on the M62 in 1972. Paul, who was only 17 at the time was from the same troop as me (3 Troop 11th Signal Regiment) was killed on that coach and two other signal men who went to 8 signal regiment where I did my trade training were also killed, Whenever I think of Darlington it reminds me of that incident. Civilian family members of one of the soldiers killed also died, including two young children.
