   About a week ago, I was playing Kings Bounty Warriors of the North which has a tendency
   to crash so make sure you save frequently. Still a great game.Anyway,I had another message of another frequent steam update, so I updated. Lo and behold,when steam rebooted,I had a rainbow of yellow,white,and grey colored steam games. When I clicked on a game to play or update,I was told that I didn't have enough space showing 0(zero) on my D drive. So I tried to install on a different drive and a same scenario. I tried a few tricks but a no go. I had to quick format the D drive and reinstall steam. I have all except 30 gig backed up so I reinstalled steam and downloaded the games I was playing.

   On my other computer that the power supply crashed, because of the recent steam updates, i have a lot of games to update so I figured if I copied my backup, I would have to update a whole lot of games so I decided to just download the 780 gig of games. Working from Z, I am now on O. At 800 kpbs, it is going to take a long time. For some reason a few games downloaded at 12-30 kbps.
   More than likely, one of the main files got corrupted from the update but it could have been the Kings Bounty. Perhaps the power supply is going south on this machine also. Just wondering if anyone else has any steam woes or am I just the bad karma type-of-guy? (:)

   I've not been able to play any of my Steam games for days because the client keeps freezing during boot up. I've tried restarting it literally 50 plus times over the last three/four days and each time it gets as far as opening up friends and group invites, then it freezes. I've reinstalled it, but to no avail. I posted a ticket to Steam help over 6 days ago and still haven't had a reply from them. Grrrr

   I tried a number of things over a few days before I quick formatted the D Directory that had only Steam. Of course all the saved games were on the c drive. I didn't do a un install from Revo or the control panel because I thought I might lose all the games even though I had a backup except for about 30 gig. Either the registry is corrupted or one of the main files in the steam apps. I remember now that I had a steam shutdown a few times for no obvious reason along with the Kings Bounty crashes and steam updates. A lot of the games are being converted to a new file system so I would bet that is the culprit. I think you are going to have to start from scratch like I did and then decide whether to re-download or use your backup which will be at least overnight or probably all day in your case.Good luck.
   I should have tried a program like ccleaner to clean out the registry after I deleted the steam install program before I reinstalled steam a few times. Hindsight. (:)

   Finally got a reply fro =m them and as usual they suggested something that i'd already said i'd done.

   Hmm, that's something i've not tried yet, clearing out the registry. Will have to try that as a last ditched effort not to have to reinstall win 7.

   More important than the registry might be cleaning the cache with ccleaner or similar program. I had to do this yesterday because after rebooting a computer, I still couldn't get into these forums with firefox which generally fixes that particular problem. After using ccleaner, I was able to enter the forum with no problem and even the name and password were filled. I must have had a lot of items in the cache because it took a relatively longer time to clean than normal.
