Hello all. Hamstergirl, up above, said it takes 3 months to complete the survey. I suppose that's when they ask you for the shipping address and what software you want...
Offer "Expired" - FREE Vista Ultimate, Office or other MS Software

@Lee Are you trying to play Matchmaker, or what??
I've got the feeling that hamstergirl already has a hamster, ya know? :-)

Lee - wedding bells?.....ah,..nope (at least not until after I see the 8x10's AND the bank statements, as well as meeting the in-laws (but I was about to offer an invite to my next tarts' picnic) ;)
DaletonaDave - you know, I never thought about the manufacturer's disk - until now that is! I have Home Premium, and I was considering a "fresh start" since already things are slowing down (and the obsessive compulsive in me hates the off/on again error msgs. that seem to crop up at random). Okay, guess I better scurry my furry little britches on over and sign up - thanks, I think ;-)
antslarson & niloy - I started the process last night to sign up. In order to get the gift, you have to participate in TWO surveys, not just the one (read my earlier post). And they asked me to choose my gift and provide them with an address, right after I activated the email they sent to begin the registration. I was sort of surprised, thought I would have some time to decide which thing I wanted, lol. If I were you antslarson, I would go and check that out again....of course, I could be wrong...
FreewareFan - nope, only one hamster in this nest - just the way nature intended! You never, ever put a male hamster in a females' cage, even when its that time of the.....week (heh, heh) - she'll probably hurt him, and may even kill him. Ask my ex, he'll agree totally, since that is exactly what I said I would do to him should he ever darken my doorstep again LOL (I LIKE being single!). Like I always say, just because I look like Disney doesn't mean I'm not Jaws in disguise! For the record, I'm not just hamstergirl for the hell of it - for about 15 years a friend and I bred and sold various types of rodents to all the local pet shops, mostly rats, but we had mice, hamsters, and chinchillas as well. Do I still do it? HELL NO! Down to one hamster and three cats, suits me just fine.
And on that note, cheers, I gotta get some sleep!

@hamstergirl..... Uhhhhhh, well, let's see... A woman who raised rats, who defends her domain to the death, and emulates sharks.....
Sounds like I wouldn't have a thing to worry about!! :-)

Microsoft Dangles Deal: Products For A Peek
http://www.webpronews.com/node/42819Posted 16 years ago # -
Uh-oh, there may be trouble in paradise - check this out;
http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9052518When I tried to finish the registration process that I started the other night (after seeing the above article), there is no longer any mention of the free gift. Aw crud......

That figures. MS pulls another retraction, and tries to cover their trail.
This is lousy PR for them, not that they aren't used to that sort of thing...
Would a Mod change the title for this thread for me, and reflect that the offer is no longer valid? Thanks!

heh heh heh
I love press release spindoctors. Microsoft "claims" they reached their 'while supplies last' limit. What they don't say is that the quota limit dealt NOT with the actual product, but with how many tech support personnel they allocated to deal with the anticipated tsunami influx of complaints and problems with Vista.
Many people have observed that Microsoft's right hand often doesn't know what the left hand is doing... and both hands have held the cheese curls. :-)

ok let me get this stright u don't get the free DVD even if u compleated the offer before the closing date
Posted 16 years ago # -
It looks that way, Niloy. Why not email them direct, and ask??
Posted 16 years ago # -
Good catch, hamstergirl. As of 2 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday) they yanked the plug. The "good" news is you can still download the monitoring software with zero incentive to do so. Other than showin' yer love for Microsoft, that is. Bet they're lining up around the block to do that. You can't say Microsoft doesn't have a pair of big brass ones.
RunesageMagi has a point. I suspect Jim from marketing just got himself promoted to janitor.Posted 16 years ago # -
Cheese curls!!! Hahahaha....on both hands....!!!! Whew, you guys are bad (and I LOVE it!)!!!
Just for grins, I sent an email to MS asking "what gives" (and seeing that I had started the reg process, maybe I could skate in under the wire), and got the following boilerplate:What happened to the free product option?
Thank you for your interest in the feedback program. Due to overwhelming response, the supply of gifts has been exhausted so we have closed our free product offer on 12/11/2007 at 2pm Pacific Time. Thanks to everyone that participated!
Guess MS's compost pile wasn't as big as we thought.
headman - Got to confess, I only found the article by total accident...I was running a search to find out if MS Office was included with Vista Ultimate, and the press release was at the top of the results (not exactly a happy read). Lucky, lucky me ;-)

M$ have run out of stock, thats it.
No stock, no delivery.
I hope that large air-craft hanger containing the stock, which is now hanging on string
connected to cane poles to keep the birds away from the grass seeds, a coaster or some fab new trendy girly earings, is now ready to stock Windows XII.Posted 16 years ago # -
Does anyone know when they will be sending it?
Posted 16 years ago # -
For the people who are actually eligible - I read it will be sent on completion of the 3 months.
If they didn't resort to "payment on delivery", I suspect many people would uninstall the "microsoft watcher" software from their computers as soon as the software arrived on their doorstep. The "lucky door prize" drawing at the end of the meeting is the best way to make sure people don't decide to "leave early".
Posted 16 years ago # -
That is not good :(, well I'll keep the software on the computer. It's just good to know that I have to keep the software on my computer for three months before I can get the free program, it's just a real disappointment they are not sending them out sooner. Thank you Bubby.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Just so you know, the three month thing I only read from another user - not from Microsoft.
It does make sense though, so I've no reason to doubt it.
Posted 16 years ago # -
It sounds correct, I am just glad I got some kind of date of when it will arrive, thank you.
Posted 16 years ago # -
I signed up like a day before they "closed" the free offer for the programs.
I doubt they will keep their promise, but since there is a cache of the thing and I have an email stating that I joined the program, I can use it against them. I hope they send me the VISTA Ultimate CD to me soon. I have to find out when. And Thank God I signed up a day before the closing on 12/11/07.Posted 16 years ago # -
I don't see why they wouldn't keep their promise.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Hi all! I just received an email from microsoft stating that I've completed my 3 month period. I just have to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery of my Vista Ultimate DVD. I'll be removing the "Windows Feedback" program as soon as it arrives.
Well then again, maybe I'll just re-format & install the Ultimate instead of my current Home Premium. :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Who can participate in the Windows Feedback Program?
Participation is currently limited to US residents of 18 years and older.
You are the owner of the computer you use for this program.
The automated feedback program is offered to Windows Vista and Windows XP customers only.
The survey feedback program applies to all versions of Windows.-----
Dam only for guys who live in "US" :(
Posted 16 years ago # -
They should do it in the United Kingdom also.
I doubt M$ would like to offer freebies to Europe as a whole, due to the fact they get screwed up the backside by the E.U. (unelected morons) judges for millions upon millions of euros.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Well, I didn't ever think it would ever actually happen, but I just got my copy of Vista Ultimate in the mail today.
Posted 16 years ago # -
congratulations, dave.
and thanks for the update.
