I don't know how I managed to miss this when you first posted it, but I JUST now saw it, and wanted to say "Thanks".
They sent the Reg Code almost immediately, really very easy. Another one to add to my toolbox!

Thanks for the Registry Mechanic info. Used to have something like this years ago (before I changed computers), and with all the downloads and uninstalls, this is really needed!!

Update.. downloaded and registered the free Registry Mechanic.. ran it and it found 583 errors .... thanks once again!!

I don't trust Registry Programs. But it does help for some things, but ONLY if you know how to use them. Otherwise, Registries will be deleted/modified. AND even if you back it up, there are chances where you might not be able to BOOT again. Happened to me 3 times, each with a different reason why. ALL from registry.

Well some believes lifeiscruel, that cleaning the registry of useless entries won't make a hill of difference anyway. I personally believe this is true 99.99% of the time. Once in awhile I do find an entry that does cause a problem now and then. But it is truly rare.
By the way, it has been 4 hours now and no key sent to me in email. I have heard that companies can get 20 bucks per valid email. So that is probably what they do with the email address you give them. Good thing I gave an email address that I only check twice a year, eh?

I would suggest patience. I got my key right away, but that was before the recent rash of ice storms wreaked havoc across 1/3 of the US. Lines are down all over the place, and perhaps this has an effect on your wait time.
I've gotten more than one free offer from computeractive, and they have been above-board each time.

Good deal FreewareFan! There are indeed good companies out there. 6 hours later and nothing. Maybe they don't like the email I gave. No spam blocker on that account either.

Just an idea, but if you felt like it, you could go to the thread about temp email addresses, use one of those services, and try to request a key from computeractive once more. Perhaps you'd get it this time??

Yes I thought of that. Plus I got a zillion of other email addresses too to use. Thanks much!

Cool. Hope you get your key soon! :-)

Just a thought based on personal experience. I waited 24-hours and didn't get a key for RegMech when I used one of my throwaway email addies that has a period separating two words. So, I tried reregistering again the next day using one with a single word and got the key in about 1 hour.
Speaking of emails and SPAM, ever since joining GAOTD, every addie I've used to register progs has become a target of spam, much of it with subject lines filled with Cyrillic characters. I don't open the crap, I report it as spam, but the timing of this is exceedingly suspicious. (no, I'm NOT blaming GAOTD for what their suppliers may be doing).Lifeiscruel has a point... newbies should steer clear of programs that can make changes to Registry, at least if they're foolish enough not to back up the Reg first. IMHO, Reg Mech's second step (cleaning up detritus) displays a newbie-unfriendly unexploded directory tree that may give the newbie the false/nasty idea that he need only click the (top of hierarchy) boxes in the tree rather than drilling down and checking only the highlighted detritus box (for the CLSI key or whatever). I've not tried clicking on the top box because I really don't want to risk discovering I've wiped out an entire branch even IF there's a Restore Point waiting to CYA.

Reminds me of this incident...

Bubby, I only joined a couple weeks back, but am not surprised to see that spamming's been a problem before/continuously. If I weren't so busy, I'd create a series of fresh disposable random alpha-num email addies to try and identify if a certain game producer has ties to an email harvester.
Re- SPORE, it HAS taken a long time for it to develop, hasn't it?

That's odd I got it right after I requested one.
Posted 16 years ago # -
I am still waiting 18 hours later.

Just installed it and received the serial number by email within 30 seconds of clicking the registration button!
Good one.
