GOTD changed about 15 Min. ago. Site says 22+hours left.
Perhaps a "day" is only 22 + hours ???
Games site unavaiable at this time.
"Day" defined by GOTD & GGOTD

The game site wasn't accessible around 12 midnight GMT, which means there was 8 hours left of yesterdays giveaway at the very least as I don't know exactly when the site went offline. Does anyone from the giveaway project know what's wrong?.

Well it seemed there was a server problem - everything appears to be working ok now.
The Game site is definitely working (at this moment).
I believe the way GOTD treat a day as a 24 hour period - that finishes at the same time for any given location each day. Thanks to Murphy - not all giveaways will start "on the dot" and sometimes they may be unavailable due to technical gremlins or not enough candy. But the time "remaining" is caculated based on the usual "finish time".
Having each giveaway finish on the same hour each day for any location makes it easier to predict when a new giveaway is due (some places it might be midnight, other places it might be 6pm - but it is the same time for that location each day).

Yeah, I like the way it works as we in the UK get to check first thing in the morning (8am), which is great as I always find when I wake up theres something good to look forwards to.
I thought the server was down. thanks for the info.
I've just posted a link to my game review of Sky Bubbles. Excellent game.

The period starts/ends at midnight Pacific time. I think that's GMT +7 or +8... I live in Arizona where we don't do the daylight savings time thing, so it winds up being either midnight or 1am here, depending on the season ;)
