Hi,
Thanks tjchan for pointing that out,. Niloy, if you are going to subscribe to a paid firewall, maybe try comparing McAfee to other firewalls on the market. Agnitum Outpost firewall is suppose to be one of the best, a site I often use to compare, paid for security software is Adware Report, for their firewall comparison the link is: http://www.adwarereport.com/mt/archives/firewall_reviews.php ,McAfee dose not seem to have as many features, compared to the others, for around the same price.
The one thing I like about the Comondo firewall, other than it is free, is they have a excellent forum, with an extensive help and FAQs columns. I could not think of a question that was not already answered in there.
Have a good one,

Comodo is a LOT better than McAfee and any other firewall. Anyone who doesn't believe me should download and try it once, I am sure they will stick with it.

Hello,
MASA, no there is not a whole lot of information on Comondo Firewall Pro v3 on the Net yet, since this release is new, I imagine it takes a while to thoroughly test and submit the information on these types of programs.
Over at the Wilders Security, they are having a good discussion on this version, with a few screen shots, covering the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some of the cons were; the annoying pop-ups, as the program went threw it's "learning" process, conflicts with other security software, not able to access the Net with certain programs, and a few, what some of the users, considered to be bugs in the program. The link to the thread is: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=192066.
For me, it installed okay on Windows XP SP2, I temporarily disabled all my security software, which is recommended. The pop-ups were a bit annoying, but it did not last to long, I do not have a whole lot of programs that need to access the Net. So far I have not had any software conflicts, KOW. As for the bugs , I suppose any new software, with this much going on, and so new, will have a few bugs to iron out. from what I read in the Comondo's forums the bugs are being acknowledged, with some temporary fixes already available.
I did read some ware on the Net that the Comondo firewall is not so user friendly compared to say, Outpost or Zone Alarm, and the compatibility problems with some software, this firewall might not be for everyone. Anyway, Comondo is way better firewall than what I had, I feel a little more secure that any outgoing activity is now being monitered and the price is right.

it is pretty nice plus my scurity is up to 6 Firewalls and 4 Virus scanners THX Barry

Hi.
Your welcome Niloy. My curiosity has got the better of me, so I have to ask, do you have all 6 firewalls running at once? I ask you this, because every thing that I have read about the instillation of a new firewall, is to completely shut down or even delete your existing firewall from you hard drive, or it will cause some major conflicts.
Good day,
BarryPosted 17 years ago # -
Barry no I do not run all 6 of my firewalls at the same time if i activate all of them at the same time it wont even let me do anything i only activate about 3 firewalls at a time one of them is my personal firewall which came with my pc(dont really know how to deactivate it) and it doesnt have to delate all the firewall info i just DISABLE them and i tried activating all of them on my old 98SE but brought me only trouble dont try to activate all of them at the same time(unless ur paranoid^_^)

Hi,
Thanks for the response Niloy. I was wondering about your firewalls, because after I uninstalled Norton 2004 I had to use a special cleaning tool , which was available from Symantec, to clean up the Norton leftovers in my system. before I used the tool, my new anti virus and firewall, to say the least, had a few problems. It might of been just a Norton thing. You must be a very patient person, Niloy, just the pop ups for connection rules to set up one firewall was annoying enough for me.
Thanks for the heads up, to make a long story short, they changed my status and must of forgot to change it back, I thought it was a glitch just at at my end. I'll PM a Moderator to see if it can be fixed.
Have a good one,

I find Comodo 3 excellent and personally I don't have a problem with the pop-ups, in fact I like them, especially the Defense+ ones as I can see what is going on and they require no interaction. I find that some of the things in 3 have not changed for the better compared to the last version of 2, and there are still some glitches that close it down completely, however overall however my impression is that it is an improvement on v2 and it is the firewall I recommend if asked.
