   Hi,

   If a big file was divided and backed up as several smaller iso files. If i want to unzip those file to the iso parts they contain, what should i do to read the original? Do i have to reconstruct the file as a big iso file?

   or i can just use the iso recorder to copy all of them on a CD then read the original file after booting into the CD?

   Is there any reason you want to use ISO files?

   Most people would use multi-part zip or rar files to backup the large file.

   ISO is better suited to representing multiple files or an actual file system (like a representation of all files on a CD).

   If you are just wanting to split and join large files, there are standard tools that are widely used such as hjsplit http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

   If the files are small enough to fit on a single CD then you can just copy the files to the CD. If the files are larger than the capacity of a CD (or DVD) then you will need to split and/or compress the files - and will need to reconstruct the files before being able to access the files again.

   thanks bubby for all the tips

   the iso files can actually fit into one cd. should i reconstruct them? or when i write them all into one CD, the files will be reconstructed themselves and i can read the complete project from the CD?

   Nancy,

   I would just extract the individual files from the different iso files and then burn the individual files to a CD. One program I know will allow you to extract individual files from an iso is Alzip http://www.altools.net/ALTools/ALZip/tabid/53/Default.aspx . Hope this helps.

   Hi Jaddis,

   Thank you and Bubby for the tips and help. What i had was 6 iso files zipped in winrar. I just extracted the iso from the winrar. Put the whole lot in a folder (common directory). Then i mounted the first part with a program called magic iso. Apparently if this is done the iso parts are joined into one. Magic iso creates a virtual cd / dirve...etc. maybe thats why it works.

   In the end, i managed to solve my problem. thanks GAOFD.
