   I have been following a group of 4 sites of free downloaded games (without adware) for several years now and that group is going down to 3.

   It's one thing to try to hijack your home page and/or your search engine or even a toolbar for your browser. It's an entirely different matter to FORCE you to install another browser AND make it the default browser. Something called the "Play Free" browser.

   NO WAY!

   FreeGamePick hasn't offered a new game in months. It's re-dated games a few times to make it look like there were new games but they weren't.

   This is a totally unacceptable move and is not done by any reputable site. Toolbars, hijacks such are "normal". But any extra software other than a game manager that's only used for downloads (like Big Fish Games) is totally different.

   I rather liked the variety of 4 sites (JenKat, MyPlayCity, GameTop, and FreeGamePick). Does anybody have any recommendation for a site that might replace FreeGamePick?

   Even if they changed their rules -- I wouldn't trust them. Now to decide if I want to or can switch my 26 games from FreeGamePick to one of the other sites.

   FreeRideGames.com is a site that offers free games, with ads. You will also need to download their game manager. I have used and played their games for many years now, with absolutely no problems. Also, Virustotal.com gives freeridegames.com a clean bill of health, with the exception of 1 anti-virus site, which is probably a false positive.

   Thanks for the heads-up, Dragonlair. I have looked at Freegamespick a number of times over recent months, but haven't seen anything there that isn't also on JenKat, MPC or Gametop. I can only speak for the sort of games that I like personally, which are HOGs in all their varieties and Adventure-style games.

   A couple of days ago I went on to Gametop and saw Pahelika - Secret Legends, which is one of my all-time favourites. Whoopee! I thought, and downloaded it immediately as I've only got a version from Gamehouse that's got loads of ads through it. Unfortunately it wouldn't run properly and I see it's no longer on offer from Gametop: I hope they can get a working version back again.

   Thanks for the explanation about Gametop. I was trying to figure that out. I got Pahelika in the afternoon and it installed fine. I've had no ads or anything but I haven't gotten that far and there are no indications of Gamehouse. I recommended to a friend that evening and it got flat out weird! At first, the page showed another game (another HOG) but the page it went to looked like the game listed with the Pahelika download link. A few minutes later it linked to the correct game. You can still get Pahelika but you have to search for it and it still looks like the other game.

   As for FreeGamePick, a check indicated I have not downloaded from the site since last June. Last fall, they totally re-designed their page and that is probably when this new requirement was introduced.

   Thanks, Inas for he idea about freeridegames. However, I don't want adware so I don't think it will work.

   I think I may have found my "replacement" in MyRealGames.com. It's going to be a bit of work to add it's games to my existing spreadsheet but easy to remove FreeGamePick.

   I'm planning on removing the 26 games I have from FreeGamePick over time as I can. Of the 26 I have, 21 are among the other 3 of the sites I follow and at least one of the 5 that is not, is on MyRealGames so that may indeed be a good replacement!

   I don't have much hope in this post being recognized as the 'last' post but I'll try.

   I complained to freegamepick.com about the forcing of the browser. They responded that they don't force it, there's a "skip offer" option. Slight problem -- that option is grayed out -- inactive.

   It still remains that you either get the browser or get the games elsewhere. From what I've seen, every game that they have that is of interest to me, is also available from at least 1 of the other 4 sites but maybe under a different name.

   That brings up the second issue -- they haven't offered any new games for months, they have the lowest count of free games available (209) -- I can get all their games that I want elsewhere -- Why do I need them?

   Dragonlair, thanks for the information about Pahelika. I couldn't find it on the Gametop page, so tried putting Pahelika and Gametop into Google and it came up first with the Whispered Stories:Sandman game, then the second option gave me a screenshot of Sandman but with the narrative about downloading Pahelika. I gave it a go and it's downloaded Pahelika OK, but it still stuck on loading the game. I Ctrl+Alt - didn't get as far as the Del key for Task Manager when the system came up with a message to say that Pahelika wasn't responding. I clicked out of that screen, had another go at Pahelika and it's loaded perfectly well the second time and I've just played through the tutorial without any problem. Hopefully this apparent glitch is just on the load mechanism - if so, I can live with it.

   Pahelika is the free game today on Gamehouse but you have to play with ads.

    Update on Pahelika from Gametop - after my initial problems with loading it, I haven't had any more problems and have been playing very happily. So it looks as if it might have been the first load that didn't set something it should (I'm not a techie) and since getting out of that and going back in it's worked OK. I haven't finished the game yet as I don't play for a long time at once, but so far so good.

    When Gamehouse changed the way they offered points for downloading and playing games, I got Pahelika - Revelations with my free points. I got so far with it and then stuck, but am looking forward to picking it up again. It has to be by far the trickiest game I've ever tried, but so rewarding when something works!

    Today I discovered that even Shockwave is putting offers in with the downloads and you have to go through 3 different screens and cancel the offers to get to your game. I've had a membership with them for years and this is the first time that happened.
