Thanks for the info WR...if it's free from EA,I'll have it...I haven't visited Origin much after refund probs when TW Online went bust so something free from them is a bonus!!!
It's definitely free for the moment. Usual price is £9.99 which is about right for a decent AAA from 2008 (was released Oct 2008).

The only downside is having to install Origin. I have just over 40 games in my Origin account, but rarely visit let alone play any of the games there (some of the games were transferred over when EA removed games from Steam such as DragonAge and DragonAge II, the Steam keys registered them on Origin. The only games I've purchased via Origin since it's inception have been the last three Need for Speed games, Battlefield 3 and 4, Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Mass Effect 3, Sim City, Syndicate plus several that were on really good deals. I've only purchased the latest Need for Speeds, and Battlefield games becasue EA and Steam don't talk. would much prefer to keep them all on Steam.
I used to buy hard copies of all my games prior to my accident. much preferred having a copy in my hands. now I rarely buy them.
I've also had problems with EA over booster packs for Battlefield 2 back in 2006. Never did get it resolved, until I created a second Origin account to soak up some bundled Origin games I purchased last year via one of the humble bundles, I must have used the correct combination of email and password to unlock the booster pack that I purchased all those years ago. Useless though because I don't have Battlefield 2 on that account plus the booster packs were eventually added to the last upgrade to Battlefield 2 (v1.5) for free. lol
Football and golf was all I ever used origin for,but bought Sniper elite 2 in place of refund due (difficulty getting real money back from origin)so still have some games with them but definitely prefer Steam
I think I do too, 40 odd games on Origin to 2904 games on Steam (not counting dlc), lol
This is still active. Could end any day.
Found out how long the deal is for. It ends May 9th at 8am GMT. If you like horror games this is one of the better ones. Cost me £30 when it was originally released back in 2008.
I finally downloaded this, required three attempts as the d/l kept stalling. But the most difficult part was actually registering with Origin (every name I tried, even complete gibberish, elicited a "that name is in use" response; and they are one of those sites with a laundry list of specs for your password). I do not like the fact that instead of just downloading a game I had to also accept a ton of unnecessary Origin software, and the game apparently "calls home" every time it's started (I'm going to block it in the firewall, if it then will not run it's deleted).
The game itself is very nice, and just the type I enjoy (Deus Ex, Half-Life, Morrowind, System Shock 2, the Thief series, NOLF, etc.); but it would have been much better as a first person game. I found the third person view, and rather non-intuitive controls, quite cumbersome (my poor character was killed twice in the first fifteen minutes as he stumbled around learning to fight).
Thanks for the "heads up" on this
Hope you enjoy it; and more importantly, I hope Origin improve their service by making the client more user friendly.
According to Neowin you have until the 8th.

I didn't see that on the Origin page they point to. Once you sign up the deal is one free game per month.
They are desperate to steal custom from Steam.
