I downloaded the latest MBAM yesterday and tried to download today's software, Artensoft Photo Mosaic Wizard 1.7, and the download for the downloader is deleted by MBAM. I don't know if MBAM is detecting a PUP or if it is a false report. What should I do? Is there really a PUP in the downloader?

Malwarebytes is known for finding PUPs in installers. I don't know if it could be called a false positive because the key to a PUP is the first P - "Potentially". It's just the offering of downloading the other stuff that tends to trigger Malwarebytes. It does it all the time to Jenkat's installer and the installer is fine.

Well, it may be fine, but I have no idea how to download something when MBAM deletes the downloader that is supposed to then download the software.

You can temporarily disable the live scanner so you can install a program. Right-click on its icon (the big M) in the notification area, then click 'enable protection' and confirm when it asks if you're sure you want to turn it off, and that should do it!
Then just download and install the giveaway. When it's done, go back and right-click on the M again and choose 'enable protection'. It should start right back up again. :)

OK, thanks.

I decided that there were too many extras included with the installer to continue. There was a driver update thing that did not offer me an option to decline. Not sure if that was the installer or something else. I'm not very happy that there is so much included in the installer and was that driver update installed on my Win8.1 computer?

OK. The downloader installed and I was able to install and activate the software. I am new to my computer as Win8.1 is nothing like XP so I don't know what was up with that Driver Update thingy.

Not sure about the driver update thing - I have very limited experience with Windows 8.1.
I installed Photo Mosaic Wizard to check the installer and it looks like the 'wrapper' includes a program called Software Informer, but this only shows up as an optional offer after Photo Mosaic Wizard is installed and is only run if you specifically choose 'Install Software Informer' on the 'install completed' screen.
If you then click 'Install Software Informer' it installs and opens Software Informer, but if you click close it just closes the window and opens the Giveaway of the Day website, as usual.

Artensoft Photo Mosaic added a Program Files [or Program Files (x86)] \ Artensoft Photo Mosaic Wizard \ folder, a folder to My Pictures, plus shortcuts to run the software. There's an option with the GOTD wrapper to add the Software Informer. Anything else, especially about drivers, might throw up a red flag. DO note that many of the ads that are automatically added to web pages mimic a legitimate download button, & often will start a download & possible install of something you never intended or wanted.

I am of the opinion that the Driver Update thing I saw for only a moment never installed on my computer. That is exactly what I wanted.
