   I installed Aston and it worked. But I then discovered that many of my Explorer settings were changed by Aston. I had backed up registry first before installing and running Aston. Thus, I restored old settings to get many of my customized programs back as I had them. However, then Aston became a trial with 30 days remaining. I guess the registry restore took away the activation key. But I needed to restore many program settings. What a mess.
   Any ideas on how to get Aston activated again? Sure I understand that Aston can't give away software; but this is a problem. Many thanks for any ideas.

   The only legitimate solution to your problem is to restore the registry to the point where you had the registered version installed. Of course, I presume that would also restore the original Explorer problems. The old adage, "You can't have your cake and eat it too" comes to mind here. :) I don't understand why you would want it anyway if it caused you all these problems. And I doubt that anyone on this site will give you the registration key, or tell you how to find it. It would be bad policy if allowed.

   Two ways you can get Aston working again. One of them quick, and one of them slow.

   1. Go to the Aston website and register the software. They will send you a key you can use whenever you like.

   2. Wait for another 6 months (maybe more). Aston might be offered on GOTD again (or not).

   This is GOTD not GOLF (GiveawayOfLastFriday) :D

   I have always supported GOTD when inane comments were made by folks wanting it free forever. And I think you guys take alot of inappropriate flack when you are helping others. Thus, I will attribute your nasty comment to me above as just being tired of all the unfair comments you guys receive. The fact is that Aston is a good program (if) it runs right; so I wanted to get it to work. But it screwed up my system and I just now got it back after 5 hours of work. So, no I was not looking for GOLF.

   I'm sorry if you felt I was being nasty. That was not my intention. (Perhaps the big smiley after my comment was a "nasty" smile?). You can however, choose to attribute my comment to whatever you want.

   However your question will probably prompt me to finally write a standard post to which users wanting answers to questions such as this, and several others like

   • Why is this a trial?
   • I can't download from the main site?
   • How do I install old giveaways again?
   • Can you send me the keys - I don't have them?
   • Why don't you giveaway program XYZ? and,
   • How do I activate the program?

   Hint: All of these have been answered before, and I'm sure most people are tiring from reading the same answers all the time.

   (hmmm. I thought "GOLF" was kinda funny. oh well).
