When GOTD deletes or moves people's comments, could you add a note stating "Comment deleted" or "Comment moved to xyz forum" please? That way, your public are not so upset, and other readers are not so confused by the changing numbering of comments. I gotta say that deleting your customers comments without explanation is a sure fire way to lose both customers and credibility.

I never had a comment removed yet. What are you people saying to have them removed?

Hi BillW50. None, as yet. However an associate of mine commented that one particular piece of software had a poorly written description, and that such corner-cutting indicated a basic lack of care and did not inspire confidence in the software (which was a Password Manager). I witnessed the post. GOTD deleted it. It was specific to the software, was polite and to the point.
Perhaps GOTD can explain its deletion policy.
Apart from that, there are numerous comments in the posts that messages have been deleted. Who knows what they were. I'm happy that GOTD moderates this forum, it certainly seems to need it, but I feel that GOTD is inconsistent - why do we always get praise to someone's God each day, for example, but actual feedback is removed?
My submission:
1. GOTD publishes their criteria for removing/editing posts somewhere in these forums
2. For deleted posts, GOTD to keep the post number and type in "deleted - admin" and possibly some reason
3. For moved posts, 'comment moved to forum xyz - admin'
4. For edited posts, 'edited - admin'.Thanks BillW50, it was a good question.

Can you be banned from this forum or from giveawayoftheday? Lol, would be kind of funny.

Hmm, guess we'll need to consult the bbPress documentation.
I don't think it's possible to be banned from GAoTD unless they make it an account type ban - if that were the case, some method of authentication would be required. Say you have to create a member account to download the files. In this event you could be banned from GAoTD permanently when coupled with IP checks (though in the event of IPs since most people have dynamic IP's, the ban could affect more than one person). So most logical still is account ban linked to email and perhaps enforcing a policy of no free email accounts.
AND NO I DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT HAPPEN.
Anyway, just my brain is a bit hyper.

YES Bill, comment are removed.
Incredible liberties are taken with many many posts in the comments area and HERE (the forums).
I DON'T recall commenting 'I agree!' as shown above. I emailed numerous suggestions. One was, have a button that says, If you need help with activation, click here. For you to be then redirected to a separate page for comments / help.
Several of my posts including + & - comments were edited. Even when positive comments were made, an entire post was deleted.
Maybe we should put our complaints en masse on YouTube or other vehicles.
Advanced Windows Care does NOT work properly even when activated. Not just not downloading the database updates, I've found bugs.
If GOTD has a place for comments, then leave the whole comment. All moderators should be consistent! Guidelines for what is and is not appropriate in the comments, (like - no religious references) fine. I'm very sick of this. Newbies have problems and think it's their fault.

Well the other option is someone just sets up an alternative forum where people in the know go to discuss and help users - and everyone just abandons commenting on this site.
It would be a huge shame for the new users - but when entire posts are deleted for no reason (they are not abusive, racist, hateful, encouraging piracy, or promoting revolutionary thoughts) I begin to think maybe the site is being moderated from within communist China.
If software companies, or GOTD want to see only positive comments or praise - they need to listen to all the suggestion and comments and be seen to be listening. Otherwise like is happenning with iobit - people will talk about it a lot more, in forums they have absolutely no control over.
One disgruntled customer can undo the good words of ten happy customers - because they tell ten times as many people and ten times as loud.

I have so far removed reference to warez, cracks, key generators.
If I see racism, sexism, homophobia, antisemitism etc.
I will remove it also.

I've also noticed that if a person was totally wrong in their "help" via the comments section it has been removed. I also get the impression that developers who are offering the software for that day have some editing capabilities (for that day anyway).
I had posted the day "Mastro E-Book" was offered, and I had posted a short comment about how the software works, but I mentioned that I have "Adobe Pro" and wouldn't need the software. My comment was edited to remove the part about "Adobe Pro" but the remainding review of the software was left.
So I think sometimes it's not always the same ppl moderating.
