How do you register Sticky Password---? Anyone????
Posted 17 years ago # -
I wouldn't recommend it, as it can be a security threat. Not saying this Sticky Password is bad, but I still don't trust programs like this.

I am still having no success trying to register. I am still #23 on the product comment page. Don't know why it doesn't reconize me as this page does. That page also never posted a reply I gave to 2 earlier replies. ???? Suggestions Welcome ....

No help coming from this or program fourm 8-( Un-installed. Now it requires I re-start my computer. --- I don't like that --- I have other things going on other than "StickyForms"- BS --- It has been enough of a waste of my time already.----
I will NEVER attempt to register/activate another program that requires this process. "GOTD" -- you should consider informing developers of the issues others and myself have had repeatedly with this type of activation.Posted 17 years ago # -
GAoTD, for this instance, provided the needed registration name and key which is to be put into the program. If you purchased this program, you would still have to go through the same process so it isn't GAoTD's fault. And user/key combos are the standard way of online distribution of software. Take all the other publishers for example: Alaware, Adobe, Microsoft, all use serial numbers. So if you do not care to register/activate, that narrows down most of the commercial programs today as even Norton requires activation.

"tjchan" ---- FYI - I usually have no problems registering and activating the programs from GAOTD. Some software companies use different methods than others. This isn't a GAOTD issue. I have been using & installing software since the days of the "RadioShack TRS-80" back in the '70's. I have run into this only once before with an offer from GOTD and that was my fault because of a typo on my part. I see no point in making anything more difficult than necassary. Most other developers donot use the type "StickyPassword" chose. I question the privacy of info exchanged with the program, since I never attempted to use the program and it requires a complete shut-down for removal. I did get a questionare from "StickyPassword" asking why I was removing their product. There was oboviously some data exchange happening even though I never completed their registration. They never "registered" with me; but, they could contact me, which I don't recall happening before. "tjchan" - I suggest you check the "comments" listed under the program discussion. I am not alone having problems with this particular software. For something promising convinence; the past twelve (12) hours has been anything but. "Trial" failed --- Thumbs Down on this one. I am ready to move; on looking forward to the next offering from "GOTD".

What happened was that when you cancel or uninstall the installation then you will get that questionare. It's becoming a common practice between shareware developers
Now about shut down:
StickyPassword has to append a new button code to explorer windows. In order to do so, it must exit out of explorer.exe, which you can't really do while running windows. Because explorer.exe will restart again as soon as it's closed.

I use a program called '4UOnly' from Dillobits Software. http://www.dillobits.com/4uonly.html It is free. It is 'only' a password manager and it doesn't fill forms.
I tried Roboform 'free' but it is very limited as I use many passwords. "4UOnly" doesn't seem to have a limit to the number of passwords, has a random password generator, is 'drag and drop' and you can save your passwords to a file. It also supports multiple users using their own master password...If you enter an 'auto-comand', one mouse-click takes you to the address......I wouldn't be without it.Posted 17 years ago # -
Thank you for your suggestion "thumperzh" ... LWB

I tried "4UOnly" and it doesn't insert anything. All it is a notepad like thing that you store all of your user names and passwords (it doesn't import anything). So you have to check the list for what you are looking for and manually copy and paste everything in. I don't call that handy at all! Sticky Password is far superior to that. Also far more secure. Nothing worse than someone looking over your shoulder as you have to manually type in your password to a site. Sticky Password gets rid of the problem (thus more secure) and automates it to be far more productive. Thanks once again for another great program.
