Hi,
I love GOTD and follow it daily! But can you please lay off the multimedia (in particular the audio) programmes because you seem to have tons of those a fewer and fewer of anything else except games. Please can you offer more variety of genres in your software titles?
Thanks a lot, I really do love the site!

I don't agree with ukprimaryteacher. All the audio programs offer different utilities, so it's nice to see more than one. Besides once the programs are upgraded I'll want to have a good idea as to what is best, because i certainly intend to purchase upgrades for several of these programs and games.
I'm sure the GoTD team will be aiming to get as wide a range of software give aways as possible, as the more variety, the more people will download, and thus more and more software developers will cotton on to what a great marketing tool this is.
Apart from the mobile phone zip file program, I've found every program has some use. I started downloading the give aways when there was only one giveaway of the day. my first download was an arkanoid game called Arkanoid TVI, which I really like. Many of the games have been fantastic for my children. Some have even been of educational value.Be patient ukprimaryschoolteacher. i'm sure there will be something different soon.

I have to agree with Whiterabbit; however there seems to be some confusion regarding the "Joyce Audio Converter" (Jan. 3, 2007)supposedly published by CoolUtils.com.
Their program, "Total Audio Converter", while having basically the same interface (their background is white; Joyce's program is yellow), Total Audio Converter sells for $19.90 while Joyce's program is $18.50.
The major difference, although I haven't used CoolUtil.com's program is that Joyce Audio Converter CAN NOT and WILL NOT convert .wma audio files to .mp3, .au, .wav or any other format as advertised nor will the progam even play .wma files.
.wma files are Microsoft's answer to competing with the .mp3 format (they lost) and are heavily encoded with DRM (Digital Rights Management). Unless the user has bought a license to play the file it can't be played, burned to a CD or otherwise transferred to another computer.
The confusion between the two programs came to my attention after sending a rather scathing email to CoolUtil.com letting them know that their program didn't work as promised.
They informed me that their program is called "Total Audio Converter", NOT "Joyce Audio Converter."
Also, the two web sites are totally different.
I'm hoping that the Total Audio Converter actually lives up to its hype of really converting .wma audio files.
I have found a program that actually DOES convert; it's called "Media Audio Capture", ver. 2.8 and is available from http://www.e-soft.co.uk for $19.95 U.S. dollars.
Right now their program only converts one file at a time but they're working on a batch conversion version.
THIS PUPPY WORKS!!!
Sorry for rambling on for so long; I just wanted to let everyone know about Joyce's program.
If anyone has actually gotten it to convert .wma files, please let me know in this forum.
Thanks much :-)Posted 17 years ago #
