The first two Battlefeld 2 (BF2) and to a lesser extent Battlefield 2142 are well worth getting as is Battlefield 3. There is a wealth of modded content for BF2 available for download from all of the well known gaming download sites like fileplanet and filefront. I have over 700GB of mods and maps for Battlefield 2 alone (almost three quarters of a Terabyte). They extend the game play to an almost unlimited amount with several hundred custom made maps that supplement the 20 or so that come as default with the game. Some of the mods such as the Mercs, AI-X (Allied Intent), POE 2 and several others add so much extra content and give users battlefield scenarios from WWI, WWII, and the Bvietnam wars. There was a Korean War mod in process for several years, but I've never heard that it was finished. I basially played this game virtually every day to the exclusion of nearly all of my other games for over three years. Battlefield 2142 was a disappointment but is still a good game. There is only a tiny number of modifications compared to BF2 as they never released a full set of modding tools for the game. Battlefield 3 is just out of this world and IMO far better than the Call of Duty franchise. Get these while thay are on offer. The BF2 package includes the original game the special forces expansion and two booster packs that added loads of extra content, plus the latest patch v1.5 adds at least several more default maps to the game. (Actually the booster packs which originally cost £5 each are now included free in the v1.5 patch).
