I hope I'm in the right place. Somethings wrong on my system - help. Everytime I unzip then try to install GiveAway or GameGiveAway I get this "The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." I'm using 7-zip on Win7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1. I suppose it's a problem in my system files somewhere but don't know what to do. THANK YOU in advance!

Hi dodgertn, try using a different file archiver. I've linked to several over in the FAQ's thread in the game discussion forums, which you can find HERE.
If that doesn't work, try opening up the event viewer and check the logs. Do this immediately after a failed attempt as it'll be easier to find the problem. Whatever error messages pop up that are related to the giveaways, post them here. hopefully someone will be a ble to suggest something.
Have you checked to see if one of your background programs is conflicting with the process? you could try turning these processes off one by one, after each one try unzipping the giveaway.
Game Booster is a good free program to use as it automaticlly turns off all system programs that aren't required when playing games. You can also configure it to turn off any other programs that run in the background. The beauty of this program is that it's a one button process (once you've configured it); once you're done, just press the button again and all processes are turned back on. You can download Game Booster HERE

I have the same problem. It used to say that the .gcd file was blocked by Kaspersky anti-virus program. I could unblock the file and install. That was two weeks ago.
The give away of today gives me the same error again. I looked and there was no option in the file to unblock (after right-clicking on the .gcd file). I closed down all the activity of the antivirus program, but that didn't help.
As I am working on a 64-bit system (on windows 8.1), I think the problem is in the 64-bit computers being not very compatible with the said file.Posted 10 years ago # -
The current "solution" for Kaspersky is to boot in safe mode and install the program. It's evidently no longer sufficient on some machines to set an exclusion for the GOTD programs. I don't use Kaspersky, or Windows 8 for that matter, but there seems to have been an uptick in installation problems of late. AFAIK, the wrapper hasn't changed so it's either a Windows or a security software issue (or a combination of the two).
If you only install a few GOTD programs then booting in safe mode may be an acceptable workaround; if you install a bunch then I'd look into other security software because installing in safe mode isn't really a good idea.

Yup, after restarting the pc in safe modus, the program could be installed!
So that's what I'll do for now, as I only take two or three programs a month.thanks!

What is MY problem - tried ALL the above and still get the same message. I'm not new to computing but I'm no whiz kid either. I'm just an old geezer that enjoys the Giveaway's programs. I tried putting Kaspersky in pause but that had no effect either. Suppose I'm SOL. Thanks for everyone's help !

Dodgertn: did you restart your computer in SAFE MODUS? And then installed the program?
It should work. I did it during the past week and again today, it works, trust me :-)Posted 10 years ago # -
I am having a problem with installing today's Giveaway AND Game Giveaway. I have successfully downloaded and unzipped the files but when I double-click the Setup file, it shows the Activating message box where it is trying to connect to check that it is a valid install, after about a minute I get another message box pop-up saying "Failure to connect. Please try again later." I don't think it is a problem with my system, as I did install the GOTD a couple of days ago, and have installed many in the past with no problem.

You might want to check the FAQ. From said FAQ, the most common reason is:
1. Is Internet Explorer able to connect to the internet. Even if you use another browser to browse the internet, the GOTD activation/setup process will use the Internet Explorer "engine" to connect. Make sure also that Internet Explorer is not set to "work offline".
Even if you use another browser - Internet Explorer must still be functional and NOT set to "Work Offline". The setup will always fail if Work Offline has a tick next to it
If your PC opens an internal document in a browser (like a help file or stored document) it sometimes doesn't reset the browser settings like a well manner program should thus making you unable to connect to the internet.Posted 10 years ago # -
Hi GOTD,
The day when SysRessourcesManager was available, I got it & tried to install it.
I got the message "Failed to connect. Please, try again later".
I wasn't able to install it. Since then, I got the same message on every trial.Did anybody else get this error ?
Thks for your help.
All the best

I m living the same problem and find a solution to this..The problem is causing from Kaspersky 2014.It is no need to unsinstall Kaspersky.Only set it "dont start with windows" then restart your computer and download software from giveaway and set up it.The program will run. When finished than make kaspersky run and "start with windows" Than...that s ok. :)
