hope this program is not like the Cleanse Uninstaller which had just reverted back to TRIAL version
Hello alexiussg,
The registration Serial Number is in the included readme file. Click the registration menu option on the left side of the Main Status screen when you open Returnil and then enter the code exactly as in the readme. This Serial Number is good through August of 2008.
If you have used a Beta, pre-1.62, or Personal Edition prior to installing the Business edition, please be sure to do the following:
1) Open your current version and turn OFF System Protection if you have the Protection Mode set to ON by default.
2) Reboot your system and then log into an admistrator account
3) Right click the Tray Icon and select "Quit Program"
4) Click Start -> all programs -> Returnil -> Uninstall
5) Complete the uninstall process and then reboot your computer
6) Log back into your computer admin account and then navigate to the C:\Returnil folder and delete the file "RVSYSTEM.dat"
7) Install a fresh copy of Returnil
If you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to post.
With Kind Regards

Michale,
In reference to the non-support of RAID storage - is this only for the system volumes or any?
My C: and D: are non-RAID. (XP System is on C:) My F: drive is RAID 0.
Is RVS going to be of any use to me?
Hello BuBBy,
The incompatibility exists when using RAID for system volumes so you should be able to use RVS in this configuration. We have not tested this specifically so I would suggest caution and test in something like VMWare.

Hello Mike:
Thanks for putting your software up on GOATD.
I have a Western Digital Passport external drive on which I am running Mojopac. Since not all installations work with the MojoPac, I figured your software is great to test all those GOATD programs etc. and revert easily in case they don't function properly.
Installation went smooth and did not crash the Mojopac. However, it recognized the virtual partion with drive letter R that I set up on my laptop, but could not access it (which is perfectly fine as it is part of the Mojopac thing to not leave or take anything on the host PC). So I dismounted the virtual partition on the laptop and went back to Mojopac and your app. It now had recognized another virtual partion defaulted to Y to which I could save when working in protected mode on the Mojopac. So far so good.
Exiting Mojopac and rebooting the laptop did bring a surprise as to now I have the original virtual partition R back with the document saved while working under the Mojopac (which I had disconnected completely).
I guess all this virtuality overlapped somehow ...
Anyway, the icing for your app I guess would be to be able to switch on and off on the go without reboot and yeah, USB portability for use in internet cafe etc.
Pura Vida!
Hello AlexSJ,
Could you reply with a more detailed description of the steps to reproduce this? Thanks
The first part of that is already available. Session Lock is called that because it applies to the current boot session. This means that System Protection is ON for all users without a reboot when using Session Lock, but RVS will revert to its default setting when you reboot the computer.
The more difficult thing to solve has been turning Protection OFF without a reboot. The important thing to keep in mind here is that even Microsoft requires a system reboot for some changes to take place or when installing some patches and/or hotfixes.
This remains a priority development target and we hope to have a solution ready later this year at latest.

Hello Mike,
Do you have a projected timeline as of yet for when RVS will play nice with system RAID drives? I'm just delighted RVS exists and can't wait to have it up and running on my machine.
Have a nice evening!
Sincerely,
Sippin
First impression of the program - seen HERE
2 points. 'Warning' has only one 'n' - and which hot key is 'hot key'.
After some digging around I managed to find a screenshot in the online help showing Ctrl-Alt-R was the hotkey that RVS uses. So I hit Ctrl-Alt-R to see who else was using it.
Sticky Password - the giveaway from last week has it reserved. I had to close Sticky Password before RVS would let me open the program - It seemed a hotkey conflict prevented even the program options from being displayed - each time only showing the above error dialog.
Finally I get into the program options and select the hot key and hit "backspace" - Ctrl-Alt-R changes to "none"
So I'm looking at This
Hit 'OK' and close the dialog - hit Ctrl-Alt-R and my changes were completely ignored - The hot key is still Ctrl-Alt-R.
(Incidentally if the conflicting application using the same hotkey is running - I couldn't change the hotkey to none - I would get the error message telling me the hotkey - Ctrl-Alt-R? was already assigned)
I'll get to testing the actual software - once some obvious bugs get fixed.
Regards,
Beta-BuBBy.
BuBBy, I had the some problem at first. When you see "None" hit Ctrl+Alt+ the key, in my case Ctrl+Alt+; worked or Ctrl+Alt+'
I guess the trick is to find a hotkey that is not already in use. I remember I had to tinker with that on the Mojopac because it has StickyPassword up and running (which I think is gonne work better than AMust for me).
Thanks Mike for getting back in the forum, it really is nice to see your active interest. Will get back to the Mojopac question over at your tech support.
Pura Vida!
Alex,
I actually wanted to turn the hotkey off altogether. The UI lets you do this - and displays it as "None" but once you leave the dialog - RVS - resets the hotkey back to Ctrl-Alt-R. It's a little misleading here too - because it appears that setting the hotkey to 'none' gives an error that 'none' is already assigned - but actually it seems this occurs because RVS is forcing the hotkey back to Ctrl-Alt-R (which conflicts with Sticky Password).
To me, this is something simple that should've been picked up (and corrected) by the developers even before the program went out to beta testers.
Hello SippinCoffee,
I do not have a projected timeline for when this will be available. When it is ready for testing it will be part of the Beta testing so you will be able to test it then. We welcome your participation however and look forward to your feedback.
BuBBy and AlexSJ,
Thanks for the feedback on this and it will be fixed ASAP.
Mike
BuBBy,
"...It's a little misleading here too - because it appears that setting the hotkey to 'none' gives an error that 'none' is already assigned - but actually it seems this occurs because RVS is forcing the hotkey back to Ctrl-Alt-R (which conflicts with Sticky Password)..."
I am unable to reproduce an error message but can reproduce the forced return to the default HotKey if you choose none. Is it possible that you did assign a none hotkey in the past?
Mike
@Coldmoon - "Is it possible that you did assign a none hotkey in the past?"
I've studied my keyboard very closely - I can assure you I can find neither the "none" key nor the "any" key. ;)
@BuBBy,
I agree with you that these "Keys" do not exist and was not my meaning ;). I appologize if my question was unclear.
By "Is it possible that you did assign a none hotkey in the past?" I mean have you purposely changed or "assigned" none (meaning no hotkey)to another application? This is a bit different than installing something that supports HKs, but you have not turned this feature on in preferences for the application in question.
I hope this is clearer, if not please let me know - thanks
Mike
Isn't assigning "none" the same as assigning no key (which is akin to disabling the hotkey)?
For example - I have a Logitech G15 Keyboard - which has 3 banks of 18 hotkeys - totalling 54 additional keys which can be assigned to functions. Currently I have not assigned these keys to any function - so they are all assigned to 'none'.
There is no reason why I cannot have two programs without hot keys assigned.
The error dialog isn't being displayed because of anything to do with a 'none' hotkey. It was because I had another application using ctrl-alt-r - and the bug in your software is when setting the hotkey to none, RVS ignores this choice - and tries to force the hotkey back to ctrl-alt-r (which IS a conflict - hence the error message).
If you need any more help, please don't hesitate to ask.
@ BuBBy and AlexSJ,
I just talked to the lead developer and he confirms a bug, but also an intentional feature.
The Intentional feature is that RVS would always have a HotKey, this is why the program rejects the change to "none". The bug is that "none" was allowed to remain when you cleared the HK entry. This we agree is confusing and apologize for any issues this may have caused.
For the current Editions, you will need to specify a HotKey sequence to avoid the error messages you are recieving. We have added a feature upgrade to the development schedule that will include the option to turn the HK feature off.
Mike
Thank you Mike.
I meant to post this earlier but I got busy. Coldmoon/Mike you are the first developer that I have noticed since I've been here to actually post and assist members here. Thank you and keep up the good work. I didn't download your software because I have no need for it but because of your actions here, I'll sure recommend your software to others that I come across.
Archangel,
Thank you for the kind words and I look forward to being a member here.

I have a somewhat similar issue with my installation of "Returnal Virtual System Business Edition" from GOTD, as i was in a hurry to go to bed that morning i didnt read the help file , and quickly went thru the installation assuming i could install the Virtual Partition later, only to find when i went to use it 2 days later and looked thru the help file it stated that it had to be created at installation.
I sent an email useing the contact form like you asked, with no reply as yet.
I have since then uninstalled the program thinking that the post above by Coldmoon
