This evening, it seems that the home page is not loading in Firefox 2.0, it just loads a blank page. Works fine in IE.
Home Page not working with FireFox?

Hi, alch3mist.
I have the exact opposite problem - I can load in Firefox 2 but not in IE(7)so I am not sure that it is a problem with specific browsers. Even doing a complete reboot doesn't solve my problem.
I did find earlier that the activation for the Moyea product seemed to assume that IE would be used, so activation failed. It would help a great deal if it would also work with Firefox. If IE is available to you then you should be ok.Posted 17 years ago # -
alch3mist:
No problem on my end with Hm Pg, and I use Firefox (v2.0.0.4) religiously. Unless you've changed any settings etc. recently since you last visited the site or added a new extension, it's likely a temporary glitch on the server routing or your ISP. I wouldn't be too concerned for the moment. If you still have problems tomorrow you may want to dig around Mozilla Zine's Knowledge Base @ http://kb.mozillazine.org/Knowledge_Base .
In the mean time, heres a direct link to a help page for Fx website loading errors > http://kb.mozillazine.org/Error_loading_websites .
Main index page > http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Issues_%28Firefox%29
Hope that helps!

THANK YOU, Alch3mist. I thought the website had gone down or something strange. I did not DL this morning, as I was waiting for comments to read first. Now, all I can get is a blank white page! I thought it was me. At least I can go to IE for the download.
I hope GAOTD will see this and fix it. I like to use Firefox exclusively. I bet a lot of people experience this and, not realizing what is happening, will miss the download today.

There definitely seems to be a problem for some of us. I just tried to leave a comment on the software offered on the GAOD site using IE 7. I got this message:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
* You are not connected to the Internet.
* The website is encountering problems.
* There might be a typing error in the address.I have made no changes to my computer other than installing the Kakuro game. Nothing done to browsers. No changes in my internet connection. Other sites working fine, as usual.
I notice that there have been no comments posted there for over 7 hours. That does not seem like the GAOTD members I have come to know and love so much. Hope this clears up by tomorrow.

Not working with Firefox (2.0.0.4) for me either. Keep getting the following..
-----
Server Error
The following error occurred:[code=SERVER_RESPONSE_CLOSE] The server closed the connection while reading the response. Contact your system administrator.

Opera works OK.Posted 17 years ago # -
Sorry to hear you folks are having trouble getting into the site. I have no problems on my end. I can only assume, so I won't. I know just enough to get in trouble with these kinds of situations so I'll leave well enough alone. :P I suspect it's not your browsers that are at fault though. Sounds like possibly a server access node issue. I really haven't a clue. All's good here for now.

Same problem here... I snuck in through the back door:) No front page, just a white screen. I'm using XP, Firefox/1.5.0.12
Posted 17 years ago # -
I don't know if this is a related problem, but I can't get to the download page. It goes to "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." I've only been trying for about 30 min. so it may be a new problem. I'm using XP SP2 and have no trouble getting to the games page.

OK guys and gals. For what it's worth I just now went to the dwnld page without a problem so I can only wish all the best. May be a problem with a server issue or even possibly a regional issue which happened to me a couple years back. The entire regional server system network was down in this area for a day and a half and couldn't get out at all. I'm sure things will be back in order in due time.

I am in Austin , TX
Still getting a white screen.Posted 17 years ago # -
I had this problem early this afternoon, [EDT] though i was using IE. I could get to the forums page, but not to the site. Eventually, I found a link to the games page, and that got me in, but it was very strange. It felt like a server problem, but it was only on GOTD, i even googled it, and it would not load the main page.
Weird that it is still going on.
Hope you get thru VampireRat, I think the game is gonna be good. Nice variation on Sudoku.

I'm up here in the N/E US. I didn't try to dwnld todays giveaway, just accessed the page to see if I could since y'all are having trouble. Seems I'm the only one posting in this thread so far that isn't having a problem accessing the site. I have noticed the comments on the main page haven't been updated since this morning EDT US, so I'm guessing GOTD is having some issues as well if in fact the problem isn't isolated to their server. I assume that's not the case because I can access it, ...but, stranger things have happened!

Same problem since early this morning and still a few minutes ago: Blank page in Firefox but it comes through fine in IE. Game giveaway works fine.
Posted 17 years ago # -
Having similar problems in Firefox and when I finally get to the comment page I can't post a comment.
Seems like a server issue, not a browser issue.

Weird. And here I thought all this time that the lack of comments and votes was something else. I am in NE US. I had no problems with homepage or either download. I tried both IE7 and Mozilla, and both cleared.

When I enter http://www.game.giveawayoftheday.com/ (and I just copied and pasted that, so there can be no error), I get the GOTD site, not the GGOTD, but then when I click on the "Proceed to the Download Page" button, it takes me to "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." I have no trouble going to the game site and have downloaded and played the game.
NEW NEWS!!!
Just found these two entries at the bottom of the Games comments - Thought I'd get it out to everyone. I'm going to go see if it works:#30
HAVING PROBLEMS ACCESSING http://WWW.GiveAwayOfTheDay.COM? Remove the “WWW.” from the address! Works for me.The name resolver is somehow screwed up.

I know this is off topic but if you can’t find http://giveawayoftheday.com try entering this, http://www.game.giveawayoftheday.com . Not sure what has happened but it looks like a copy paste operation gone bad eh?Comment by Jdg_M3NT4L — July 3rd, 2007 at 12:56 am

Good news for some of you - that will get you to the GOTD site.
Bad news for me - I still can't get to the download page!
If someone who is able to get there would please copy and paste that link (the page with the comments) for me or (maybe the page with the wiki stuff?), I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Face

click on the link, and when it comes up, just remove the www. at the beginning, then resend, then it will work.
I knew soemthing was up with the link this morning, but once i got it working, and I didn't want the GOTD, just the game, I stopped worrying about it, but glad to see it was an almost universal problem of some sort.

time's up.

Thanks BuBBy,
That did it!
I'm waiting to see if the problem is resolved when the time clicks over for Tuesday's giveaway. We may need a new wikifortio link. Let me go check ...
Posted 17 years ago # -
I missed the download because of this problem. How about an extension, GAOTD team?
Posted 17 years ago # -
I'm back
Downloaded and installed the Dwarves with no problem, but still can't get to the Download page for the regular one. I'm going to check if that same link works for the new software, but I'm guessing it won't.

2:45 CST and I'm still getting a blank page in Firefox but it comes through fine in IE7. HOWEVER, anything I try to post in IE just goes nowhere. Game giveaway works fine. Forum works fine.
Ten minutes later. I accessed the GOD page by dropping the www. from the URL as devlin suggested. THANK YOU! I have to repeat that process if I move to any other giveawayoftheday.com page - other that those mentioned above. I tried to post a comment again, this time in Firefox, but got the same results: browser went to a blank page and comment went to never-never land when I clicked "post" or "submit."
I WANTED to say that, if I could afford a $600 iPhone, I would not be here looking for free software.
Just for grins, I tried to download today's software and it WORKED. Thank goodness. I might go into withdrawal without my daily download.

Thanks BuBBy for the link; it worked great.
I can get to the site by leaving out the www, but I still can't get the "Download" button to click over to the next page.
So for now, could you or someone please give me the wikifortio link for today's software (the game site works fine, by the way)? I would like to have it safely installed before I go poking around trying to figure out why I'm the only one still FUBARd.
My first thought is maybe that page has somehow gotten onto a "forbidden site" list in my computer. Any suggestions on what could be wrong would be appreciated.

Or put this URL in your browser:

Sorry for the multi-posts. Must sleep.
I don't think you are the only one FUBARd and I don't think it is us. There have been NO comments posted on the Giveaway site. . . unless. . . I cannot imagine my browser finally displaying the page but dropping the comments. Someone let me know if that is the case, please.

Thank you for the links, I was able to download and got the little box that said it activated successfully, but when the "...what next?" page (I think that's what it says) tried to come up I got the "IE cannot display this page Blah, Blah, Blah ...". So I hope I'm activated OK. Unfortunately I can't get to the comments page to see if anyone else is in the same boat - But come to think of it, they can't get there to let anyone know they're having trouble, can they? Well, if comments continue to be down significantly that would be a clue, wouldn't it? If anyone has any news on progress, please make sure it gets posted on the forums - remember that's all we can get to for now. Thanks again.

Ok, I FINALLY was able to get my password and am now a member of this forum. Now people can thank me because I was the first one to point out the "WWW." problem. (Hows That For an Ego!) NO, seriously - this is a VERY interesting problem.
I am now typing in this message using IE (which I only use for emergencies). Yes I was able to call up the home page in IE and I was able to access the downloads. BUT leaving messages in the comment is definitely not working.
--FireFox posted here OK too (see my next post) This is an EDIT test
