Hello, I can't seem to get the game to install right. I run the exe and it says it is activated but I have no shortcut icon and I looked in the "alex gordon" folder it created and I found no exe file.
I installed it to two different locations and the same thing.
I am running windows 8 RP 64bit
Any help is appreciated
Did you try running as administrator?
Like lots of games here, this one does not create a shortcut. You will have to create that yourself if you want one. The install creates an AlexGordon folder in the spot you chose. Inside that folder should be the program, AlexGordon.exe. Running as administrator won't help if you don't have that file to run. You could try running a search on your computer for AlexGordon.exe, but if you truly don't have that the only suggestion I have is to try downloading again and reinstalling.
I am running Win7 x64 and didn't have any problems.
Hi TeXaCo
Alex Gordon is quite an old game. It could be a Win 8 issue???
TeXaCo is correct. There is absolutely no Alex Gordon.exe executable file with this download and installation. This basically renders the game unplayable, shortcut or not withstanding. Can this be corrected in time before the giveaway period runs out?
What an oversight!
I also got flagged on my Webroot Spysweeper that the game has malware in it.
Vista 64-bit here - installed normally (not as administrator) and all was fine.
Game files/folders (including executable) was placed in C:/Games folder.
You simply need to go to this folder, right-click on .exe/app file to create shortcut to your desktop. Hope this helps.
It installed fine on another windows 7 machine. It must be a windows 8 64bit issue
My problem is different. This is Win7 64 laptop. When I open the program the screen rapidly flashes between black screen/smaller flalshing something, repeatedly until I Ctrl/Alt/Del and turn the machine completely off. I tried troubleshoot, didn't solve it. Alex Gordon looks like a fun game from the website, possibly something like the Turtle Odysseys and I'd like to be able to have it but I gave it up after fooling with it for over an hour and had to leave the house yesterday. I had trouble with the last GOTD display as well and finally deleted that physics game. I hope these two are just flukes. Any suggestions appreciated. Oh, and I tried Run as Admin also, but no go. I did try Run as Admin. No soap.
Tks

A guess would be either a graphics hardware driver problem, or the graphics hardware doesn't support or supply something the game needs. Usually the games on GOTD require some level of hardware Direct X/D3D support, but the Alex Gorden is really minimal in that respect, being one of very few games to run in win7's XP Mode VM.
A bit late with the response, so I hope someone will still see this and pass it on to the developer. (Yes, I'm double posting this as a comment on the game page as well, as I'm not sure if that's still being read by anyone.)
I found a glitch on the 2nd bonus level between Stage 4 and Stage 5. “Get to the exit in 50sec without falling into the precipice.” It will not give me the 30 out of 30 stars needed in order to unlock the 3rd bonus level. On the summary page it shows something like -2487/4?36 on top of what would normally be the 30/30 display, and no row of stars graphic is created. This wouldn’t be a major issue if I was at least still rewarded my stars for completing the mission, and therefore able to unlock the 3rd bonus level, but as is, I have not received my reward.
Also, when I Alt-Tab to come over to my internet browser and then try to go back to the Alex Gordon window, I get the sound but only a black screen and no graphics. Switching between windows should not require me to have to close the program and reopen it.
