So, I purchased Civ IV Gold way back when from Direct2Drive. Now, I wanted to install some mods, namely Fall from Heaven, but it requires the latest Civ patch (3.19) on Civ Beyond the Sword (one of the 3 games in Civ Gold). However, for some reason, when installing this patch, the installer starts, but when I press the "install" button, the installer just quits. No error messages, nothing. But I did my research. Apparently this happens if you don't install 3.17 patch before it. So I got that patch to find out that the patch tells me that Civ Beyond the Sword hasn't been installed. Continuing to do my research, I find out two possible sources of the problem:
1. I didn't download the patch from the source, so it may not work with it.
2. I installed for all users, and I should have done it for 1 user.
Now that Direct2Drive has become GameFly, and their client doesn't support Beyond the Sword yet, I can't download an installer or patch.
However, I found the Direct2Drive patch v 3.19, but I can't find the 3.17 Direct2Drive patch anywhere.
Any suggestions?

Direct 2 Drive was sold off last year. You may have to go to the new owners to transfer your details over. Until you've done that you won't be able to re-register any of your Direct to Drive games. The new owner is Gamefly (another client).
I fist started using Direct 2 Drive via fileplanet. I used to download literally hundreds of mods each week and found that if I paid a subscription I could download up to 10 files at a time and que unlimited files as well as get them downloaded at much faster speeds. I initially paid for a weeks subscription to see what the service was like and liked it so much I ended up paying for a two year subscription. They used to have this scheme called hit points. Everytime you purchased products from them you got hitpoints. My two years subscription gave me 3000 hit points which I could spend on games from their Direct 2 Drive site. I ended up getting several games such as the second Rollercoaster Tycoon game with the expansion, one of the Thief games plus others. I then started to purchase games from Direct 2 Drive. I liked their indie section plus they also had sales on regularily. I'd been after a copy of Serious Sam 2 for ages which was available via D2D as was the first and second flatout games, so was (at the time) in gaming heaven.
Since transferring my games to Gamefly, all of the games I got with hit points have disappeared and about 50% of the games that I purchased from Direct 2 Drive are still not transferred and are unplayable because I can't register them yet.

It doesn't have a high likelihood of success, but you could try using Universal Extractor or 7Zip on the regular 3.17 patch. If either work to give you the individual files, & possibly registry entries, after backing up you could try manually copying them into place. The game hopefully doesn't have to run at this point [though it may], but only fool the later patch into thinking that 3.17 has been installed. If you try & it doesn't work put everything back [restore the backup] & you're no worse off than you were before.

Yes, I did. I uninstalled everything (except for mods, over 10 GBs there), and then used the gamefly client to reinstall Civ (plus all expansions), and I have all my games. (Civ IV + expansions, Railroads, Rome Total War, Supreme commander + expansion, Elven Legacy, and Portal 2 (which is installed through steam).

Apart from one of the Digital Combat sims (Black Shark) which wasn't available on Steam at the time (Jan 2009) plus the Rise of Flight and expansion, I stopped purchasing Direct 2 Drive games one I'd purchased my first two Steamworks games which were Defense Grid and Galactic Bowling. Prior to that I'd refused to install Steam (even though I'd bought The Orange Box previously, but never installed)
