12.8 drivers are now out at http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
They're the 1st universal driver set including win8, along with Vista/win7, & the first driver set to not include ATI's 4xxx graphics. IMO it's surprising since there's not a lot of difference between the 4 & 5xxx series, & the 4xxx cards aren't that old, are still being sold [ATI does a version per year, & they're now on 7xxx]. Doesn't look promising for laptop owners either, whether you wanted to upgrade to win8 or not, as ATI has always put most of their focus on their money-makers, the most expensive gaming cards. As long as the latest set included your hardware you got to go along for the ride.
At any rate, as it stands today if you've got ATI's 4xxx graphics or earlier you can download a newly certified version of their 12.6 driver set -- 12.6. & 12.7 beta drivers were previously available [for a couple of months], with ATI pushing, recommending the 12.7 version.
